The Traitor (Part 2)

Damian's POV
We were on the ninth list. Luca was seated in the middle of me and Valeria, because we were afraid Luca was going to be out of control once we found the traitor. I got a feeling it was more than one so we had to finish the list. And Luca was more pissed when I told him this.

A tall woman with a blond hair entered the room with Maria ─ who was tasked to call our suspect on by one. The moment my eyes landed to the woman, I knew we got one.

Her, I simply told Luca. Luca was tense beside me. The woman noticed this and her eyes showed me that she was worried about the situation.

"Adrienne," Luca said slowly in a deadly tone. I even got a shivered from the way he spoke.

"Yes, Sir," the woman ─ Adrienne ─ answered Luca respectfully. If I didn't have any ability, I was sure as fuck I wouldn't notice that she was a traitor.

"Look at me," Luca said as I felt a surge of energy radiated from Luca. My eyes widened at the fact I could feel it, but I forced my focus back on the event. Adrienne looked at Luca, her eyes were turning into fearful eyes. I noticed the way her body shook and her breathing was fast. Then, Luca stood up from his seat. I glanced at Valeria, not wanting this thing went bad.

Valeria looked at me and smiled a little to calm me down. I shook my head and breathed. Luca knows what he's doing. Just trust him, I told myself

Luca looked back at me and I saw his mouth twitch up a little. It was enough to calm me down. No longer than five seconds, he turned his gaze back to Adrienne.

"Why do you think I summon you?" Luca asked Adrienne. His tone showed no emotion at all.

"I don't know, Sir," Adrienne replied. Luca simply walked closer to her and said "Tell me everything you have done behind my back."

I saw Adrienne's face contracted as if she was at war with herself. Maybe she was, because the next thing I knew,she was screaming. I watched the sight of Adrienne with wide eyes as Luca stood tall, towering Adrienne that now fell on the floor and screamed in pain.

A small hand reached my hand. I looked at Valeria and she squeezed my hand tightly. Valeria was closing her eyes with a pursed lip. I knew his sweet nature couldn't bear to see the view before us.

In an instant, I brought her body to mine, so she was straddling me. There wasn't an inch of lust that I felt right now. Only the urgency that I wanted to take care of her and protect her from anything that could possibly harm her.

Luca's voice made me focus back on the event in hand. He repeated his words slowly to Adrienne, "Tell me everything you have done behind my back."

"I-I told G-Giselle that... The p-princess h-had woken up. Giselle a-asked me to k-keep informing her about y-your activity," Adrienne said through her gritted teeth after she took several deep breaths. By 'princess', she meant Valeria. I learned two days ago, that Luca was a crown prince, making Valeria's rank automatically became a princess after they mated.

"How long? And why?" Luca asked her with a surprisingly calm demeanor, but his eyes told me that he was livid.

"Seven y-years, Sir. I-I can't tell you why," she was crying now. However, Luca seemed that he didn't give a shit about her tears.

"You can tell me now or you won't like the way I will grill the answer out from you," Luca asked in a deadly tone. Valeria let out a small whimper in the crook of my neck. I hugged her tightly while bouncing her in my lap, hoping that would be able to calm her down.

"G-giselle knew m-my beloved. S-she is a h-human, S-sir. P-please, I c-can't lose her," she finally answered Luca. Her answer seemed to calm Luca a little bit. I knew that someone went after Valeria, and it made me want blood. I couldn't imagine how Adrienne felt if Giselle had threatened her beloved.
