Luca's POV
Damian had been behaving strangely lately. He refused to let my driver pick him up from campus. Of course, Valeria and I tried to be respectful of his wishes. I simply hoped that he was alright.Because of his ability, I could see how tired he was all the time. He tried to remain calm for the sake of Valeria and me. However, there was a time when we felt pure terror through our bond before he could close it. When I could hear his heart beats raising after he got a vision. When his blue eyes became dull, staring into distance.
A few days ago, Damian borrowed a book from me for which I had no idea what it was about. I knew it was an ancient book because I only kept that kind of book in my office. Unfortunately, my bookshelves could hold about 70 books, so I couldn't recall which book Luca had taken.
Even with my curiosity, I didn't let myself indulge on it. If Damian was hiding something, there's a very high possibility that it was related to his vision. He had a plan. I had no doubts. It was unnerving for me to not know everything he was planning. But I had faith on him.
The sound of Damian's arrival broke my muse. As I drank a glass of blood, I could hear the gate opening. The blood tasted good — but of course not as good as my beloveds' blood.
"I'm home!" Damian called from the living room. The bond told me he was exceptionally happy today. I wondered what had happened during his class that made him so cheery.
Finishing my drink, I put the glass on the dishwasher and walked to the living room. Despite the fact that we could materialize whenever and wherever we wanted, we still enjoyed the sensation of walking and doing other mundane things.
"You look exceptional happy today," I told him as I sat next to him on the couch, wrapping my arm around his shoulder. Damian sighed and kissed my cheek. His blue eyes twinkled with excitement. There was a tinge of nervousness on those beautiful eyes, but mostly excitement.
A soft pitter patter let me know that Valeria was walking towards us. Damian's gaze instinctively moved from me to Valeria and opened one arm as an invitation. Valeria gladly plopped down on his lap with a giddy smile on her face. As an emphatic person, I was sure Damian's positive emotion made her happy.
"I got presents for you," Damian said with a suppressed smile. There was a second of silence, before Valeria let out the most adorably squeal ever.
Maybe I should ask Damian to give Valeria a surprise each week, I thought. Valeria was easily pleased with even the smallest gifts. The last few months had been very difficult for us. So, I was delightful with the sound of Valeria's happiness.
Damian carefully pulled out two small boxes from his bag — one plain white box and one white box with a bow on it. Of course, the one that had a bow was given to Valeria. While I slowly took the box from Damian, Valeria shyly opened her palms for Damian to drop the box into her hands. Absolutely adorable.
Valeria and I slowly opened our own boxes. A bracelet was revealed inside the box. It was a simple bangle bracelet. I had never fond to wear a bracelet before. Mainly, I simply didn't like to wear any accessories without a purpose. This one should be different, though. I would proudly wear any gift for my beloveds.
