Valeria's POV
My blue dress flowed around my thigh as I walked towards the lounge. I could already hear my beloveds and Adam chatting. Damian was still rather awkward around Luca's brother. Which was one of the reasons Adam had promised to take me and Damian to the museum. And to no one surprise, Luca tagged along with us. He was adamant that it was not safe for us to go, while Graves and Jane were still out there. I had no complaint at all. I was feeling cautious myself.

Damian had requested a visit to the Vatican Museum. He said that he was curious about the saints because I might or might not started the discussion about the Gods and other higher beings.

"So Jesus is real, right?" Damian asked while flipping through the museum brochure.

"I mean we had been born yet," Adam shrugged, "but I guess so. Because, believe me, angels and demons are very real."

Damian frozen on his move and whipped his head to look at Adam. I suppressed a smile as Damian's eyes widened comically. I had no idea how he had forgotten the fact that he was a demigod.

Sometimes brilliant people do silly things.

"Damian, you do realize you're a demigod, right?" Luca chuckled, voicing my thoughts.

"Yeah... But I mean — Fucking idiot," Damian stammered, before marching to the aisle full of paintings. I was pretty sure he was scolding himself. It was kinda silly of him not to think about that.

I stifled a giggle and followed behind him, letting the brothers joked around quietly so they didn't disturb other tourists. While admiring the painting, I glanced every now and then at Damian, worried that we lost him in the crowd. He was quieter today and I wasn't sure if he was sick or just stressed out, but it made me more aware of his changing mood, even when he tried to hide it."Why didn't I know about this?" Damian asked me as I stood next to him, admiring the painting on the ceiling.

"You've only read about lesser being in the supernatural world. That, and we also thought you already figure it out," I told him. "Luca also has a few books on the higher being and the underworld. You just haven't read it yet."

"Care to tell me the recap?"

"Well, the majority of angels and Gods in human history are real. The universe was created by one God. He also created the angels and other 'Gods' that you've heard in many religions," I explained as we walked side by side to the next painting. "The angels and the Gods are tasked with looking after his other creation — humans.

"God also created the underworld as a place for souls to be judged. Supernatural being as ourselves was created because the connection between human and the underworld or human and the higher being."

"How exactly the first vampire was created?" he mused.

"Once upon a time, a woman almost lost her only son due to a plague. Her husband had already passed, so she was the only one that support her family. She was a kind and honest woman, but sadly she was so poor that she couldn't afford the medication for her son. Even if she did, I'm not sure that the son will survive," I recited the story with a sad smile, "The grief of the mother called the Angel of Death."

"Azrael," Damian breathed in wonder.

I nodded before continuing the story, "He felt sorry for the mother because she was such a pure soul. He offered his help to her with a cost — the child would only survive if he consumed another living force."

"But why? I thought angels supposed to give human miracles."

"It was a miracle, Damian," I said, smiling up at him, "The child was supposed to be dead, but he lived. And a gift always comes with a cost. Regardless of how small it is."
