Damian's POV
My head felt heavy. I felt like I was drowning. There was a murmur of voices. Nothing made sense to me. I couldn't even peel my eyes open as if they were glued shut. Something was wrong — really wrong.Where's Luca? Valeria?
"... he won't know," a woman's voice reached my ear.
My instinct immediately told me to try to keep my heartbeat steady and silent. I wasn't safe. I needed to get out.
"...be patient. They have to..." another woman's voice replied.
At that moment, I knew it had to be them. Grave and Jane. I was fucked. To make matters worse, I couldn't feel Valeria or Luca. The bond was deafeningly silent. I couldn't feel anything.
Just before I started to panic, the coldness on my finger made my hope soared. My hands were tied in front of me while I laid on something cold and hard — that I assumed was floor. I had to be careful. Every so slowly, I pressed the button on the ring.
I wanted to listen in on their conversation, but my head was pounding. They must had injected me with something strong. I couldn't even make out one full sentence from any of them. For the time being, the only thing I could do was to keep my heart rate and breathing steady. I didn't want to draw their attention to the fact that I was awake. Unfortunately, my vision did not reveal the precise details of their activities.
"...someone's here," one of them hissed.
Their footsteps rapidly moved away from me. Just before I tried to lift my head, my jaw was gripped by a warm hand. I knew it was a man's hand based on the size of it. My body tensed immediately because I couldn't recall seeing any men in my vision other than me and Luca.
"Open your mouth," said a familiar gruff voice, "You need to drink this."
I groaned quietly as he forced me to open my mouth. The taste of metallic made me want to gag, but I didn't have the strength to free myself from his grip. I had no choice but to swallow the warm blood he gave me. His grip only loosened after there was no blood for me to drink.
Sucking a deep breath, I felt my strength rapidly came back. The fog in my mind was gone. My bond, however, was still silent. I blinked my eyes opened and came face to face with Evander. His green eyes glaring at me. Of course, it would be him. He was one of the important pieces.
"Listen," he whispered harshly to me, "I need you to go through the front door. Luca and Valeria will be there. Do not get too close to Graves or Jane. I have to go through the back door. We've surrounded the house. Just make sure none of you die. Now, go."
I scrambled to stand up, and he made his exit as quietly as possible. If I hadn't known he was werewolf, I would've think he was a vampire since his steps was so quiet.
I had to blink a few times to get my eyes used to the low lighting inside the house. The wall had a few cracks here and there. When the smell of mose hit my nose, I couldn't help but frown. Glancing through the window near me, I noticed it was already dark. That meant I was inside the abandoned house from my vision, and shit was about to happen.
My heart raced in my chest, knowing the gruesome possibility of what might happen . And I was the only one who knew how to stop it. I wanted to scream at how unfair it was that I had to go through this. No longer than a year ago, I was just a college student and my only concern revolved around exams.
Did I regret it?
No.
How could I possibly regret having sweet moments with them? How could I not be grateful for their love?
