CHAPTER NINE!

"Remus Lupin, you are the most lovable person i have ever met."

IT HAD BEEN THREE DAYS since the full moon started. Y/n was impatiently waiting for Remus to come back. She was very very worried of him, despite his other three friends being with Remus to accompany him, Y/n just didn't feel right and uneasy not having him around.

She was sitting on his bed in the boys' dormitory. She was hoping to see him soon. Still worried, she fiddled her rings and tapped her feet against the rugged floor. She was desperate to hear a door creaking sound.

Until she finally heard it.

Y/n jolted up in excitement as the door knob turned, revealing an injured and scarred Remus, looking very tired as well. Although when Remus saw her, we wasn't very happy.

Especially when she approached and hugged him. "Oh you're finally back!" Y/n squealed, but for the first time, Remus didn't return the warm gesture. He didn't wrap his arms around her like how he always would. Concerned, Y/n looked up at him and asked, "Are you alright?"

She noticed all the scars, wounds, and lines of blood he had on his face. She rested both of her hands on each sides of his face, but still, Remus oddly didn't seem too fond of her touch. Which was a new thing. "You have so many scratches and scars.. - Let me help you with -"

"I - Don't come close to me," said Remus, gently pushing her away. It was like he wanted her as far from him as possible, but doing it in a very soft and careful way. "Wha - Why?" Y/n asked with her eyebrows furrowed, clearly not understanding his reason behind his rude mannerism. Remus gulped, and said to her, "Just don't."

"Moony, it's me -"

"I know!" He interrupted her as he started sobbing, pulling on his hair, "And i don't want to hurt you. So i'm just - I'm just asking you to back away." When he looked up to find Y/n still standing very close to him, his expression softened and he pleaded, tears going down his eyes. "Please."

"Okay.." she obliged, walking away from Remus, "I'm stepping away from you." He continued to sob and sob, and Y/n just couldn't take it seeing him in such pain. She couldn't stand seeing him sad - scared - worried. She just wanted to help him.

"You're not dangerous, Moony," said Y/n, slowly approaching him again. "I'm literally a werewolf!" he exclaimed. "So what? The full moon's over! You're you again!" said Y/n, taking careful steps to get closer to him.

"I don't wanna take any chances," he sobbed, "I don't wanna hurt you." Y/n walked closer - and closer, whispering reassuring words. "You won't," she said.

"I don't want to -" Remus couldn't finish his sentence, being interrupted by his own tears flooding down. "Moony," Y/n called, finally getting close enough to hug him.

She pulled him into a tight - warm - and comforting embrace. She had always thought hugs were the best attempt on healing scarred hearts and difficult emotions - fears - stuff like that. "I don't want to hurt anyone," he sobbed on her shoulder, hugging her back just as tight - just as warm.

"You won't," she reassured him, rubbing his back, "Believe me, you won't." Remus said nothing, just clung on to her for dear life. "What i know is that you're one of the kindest person i have ever met. You would never hurt anyone intentionally."

"I don't deserve someone like you," said Remus, still not letting her go, and Y/n wasn't intending to either. "I don't deserve to have you close to me like this." She stroked the back of his head as she asked, "What are you talking about?"

"You're a really great girl -" he sobbed, keeping his face buried on her shoulder, "And you shouldn't be wasting your time on a werewolf." Y/n broke away from the hug, only to rest her hands on each sides of his face and whispered, "Don't say that."

"I'm just a dangerous werewolf, Y/n. I could - I could kill you without realizing," he continued to sob, and Y/n shook her head, "You won't."

"I don't get why they all want to be friends with me," said Remus, "I don't understand why you would want to be here with me."

"Listen -"

"I'm terrible - I'm a mess."

"Moony, listen!" She exclaimed, shaking him by his shoulders. He finally looked into her eyes, and stayed silent. Y/n gently caressed his cheek, and said,
"Remus Lupin, you are the most lovable person i have ever met."

"So of course we all want to be here for you. You're a great person, and you don't deserve to go through such pain alone," she continued, "Which is why we're with you. Don't you ever feel guilty about it."

"I'm just a burden to you -" said Remus, looking to the ground, not daring to meet Y/n's eyes. She took ahold of his hands and reassured him. "No, you're not," she whispered, "You're far from a burden. Stop saying that."

She wiped his tears away, as Remus placed his hand on top of hers. "I've got some chocolate if you want to eat," Y/n offered, leading him to his bed, "Sit down," said Y/n, and Remus obliged, plopping down on to his bed with a sigh. Y/n reached for a chocolate bar in her pocket and handed it to him. "Here you go."

Remus took it, and started to open the wrappings. Thank you, Y/n -" He sniffed, "For everything you've done for me." Y/n patted him on his back and smiled. "Thank YOU, for everything you've done for me," said Y/n as she stood up from his bed, heading to the door, "I'll leave you to rest then."

She exited the room, but turned her back around, requesting to Remus from the door, "Smile, please?" she pleaded, but je didn't oblige. She then pouted, and said again, "Please?"

He finally sighed in defeat before giving her a toothy smile. "That's better," Y/n chuckled, "Rest," was the last thing she said to him before closing his door.

She walked down to the common room, and found Sirius sitting alone in front of the fireplace. "Padfoot -" she called, "Where are the others?"

It was a Hogsmeade trip day, so most of the Gryffindors weren't in their dorms or common room. "Prongs is with Lily - Wormtail.. Not sure, probably Honeydukes," said Sirius.

Y/n walked towards Sirius, and plopped down beside him. She took a deep breath before saying, "I wanna be an animagus."

"You wanna be a what?"

"An animagus! Do you need your ears cleaned?"

"I actually just cleaned them," Sirius pointed out, showing Y/n his ears. She shoved him away slowly in disgust. "Well then i guess you got a hearing problem," said Y/n.

"But no - Being an animagus is a serious deal, Y/n. We're not messing around," said Sirius seriously. "Who said i wanted to mess around? I want to help Moony with you guys," Y/n replied.

"The process is dangerous -"

"I don't care," she interrupted, "I just want to be with him so he doesn't feel alone."

"He's got us, it's fine," said Sirius, shaking his head as he stood up. Y/n mimicked his movements, getting on her feet as well. "Sirius -"

"No can do, Y/n. It's too dangerous," said Sirius. Y/n scoffed, "Oh please, you did it yourself!"

"Is it bad that i care about you?" he suddenly shouted, taking Y/n by surprise, "Is it?" he added, lowly this time.

"Is it bad that i care about Moony?" Y/n asked back, approaching him. "Just please," she whispered, pleading, "Padfoot, please. Help me."

"Fine," he sighed in defeat, "Meet me in the shrieking shack. Midnight. Do not mess around."

"I won't."
