The next day arrived and as you woke up, you realized everything that happened yesterday wasn't a dream, it was still real. You tried to cheer yourself up as you got ready telling yourself you'd talk to him today and figure things out then everything can go back to normal, but nothings ever that easy.
You drove to school as the anxiousness was killing you all the way there until you finally pulled up into the parking lot. As you quickly walked up the stairs you were surprised Jake was actually there, but not with the rest of the group. He had his hood up and was on his phone further away from them, you almost didn't recognize him. As you were about to go up to him your stomach started hurting again as you realized this was going to be more awkward than you thought. You took a deep breath and decided not to talk to him just yet, so you walked over to Albert as the rest of the group were talking.
"Has Jake gone up to you guys yet?" you asked looking over to Jake once more. "Nope, as soon as he arrived he went over there and just started going on his phone. Kayden even tried to say hey but he ignored him," he replied worriedly. Now you felt even more like a bad person, not only does he ignore you he ignores everyone else around him, even though you tried not to unleash your problems on others it happened either way. ~Why does the universe hate me~
"How am I going to fix this now, everything's getting worse what if it's too late?!" you anxiously blurted out as the horrible feeling grew stronger. "Calm down everything's fine, and like I said before you don't have to deal with it alone, we can reason with him at lunch," he said smiling trying to lighten the mood. You let out a sigh of relief as you realized you were just overthinking again, and as you looked over to him again, a slight smile appeared on your face when you saw he still had his bracelet on as well, maybe he felt the same pain as you did.
"Right, sorry," you replied laughing a bit, "I just hope we fix this before prom-" "I'm pretty sure we will, I mean the reason he stopped talking to us wasn't that bad, right?" he added assuringly. "Uh, yea-" you say with a fake smile. You didn't know how bad the situation was, you were still confused about it, but every other fight you guys had you ended up making up, hopefully you can do the same with this situation.
As the bell rang you and the others headed inside to start going to homeroom as you remembered something, "Oh Albert by the way, do you mind not tell the others about the fight, I don't really wanna make a big deal about it" "Alright, my lips are sealed" he replied smiling before walking off. You smiled back glad you didn't have to figure this out alone, but you also thought about telling him what the letter was about.
"Hey y/n" you hear a familiar voice from the side of you. "Oh hey," you replied realizing it was just Aija. "Do you know what's up with Jake?" she asked looking over to him then back at you. You started to panic a bit before finally saying, "Uh no he probably just has a headache or something" "Oh- alright well, see you at lunch!" she replied happily before walking off. You waved before your smile faded realizing you'd have to lie to your friends to keep this a secret. You'd don't think much of it though, once you guys become friends again everything would go back to normal!
*time skip*
As lunch finally arrived you started getting a nervous feeling in your stomach as you walked down the hallway. You started contemplating what you were going to say to him when you got the change, you didn't even notice him walk past you. You immediately felt the same stomach pain as before, ~I can't do this alone~
As you continue to walk down the hallway you see Albert and your other friends sitting down already having conversations. As you try to look back to find where Jake went, he wasn't there anymore. You look back to the table and he wasn't there either. "Where did he go-?" you ask yourself as you continued to look around. You eventually got to the table and as you sat down to ask Albert if he saw him Aija interrupted you, "Quick y/n, is cereal a soup?" "What-?" you asked confused as Albert started laughing. "It's not soup!" Kaden replied sarcastically annoyed. "Why should I believe you, you like pineapple on pizza, you should be in jail you felon!" Aija snapped back.
"No, you're both wrong. Cereal is salad, the milk is the dressing" Raven added confidently. "I'm losing brain cells," Jayden replied laying his head on the table. "You barely had any to begin with," Aija replied jokingly as they started to argue again. "Why are they talking about cereal-?" you asked Albert laughing. "I have no idea- they've been talking about it ever since I got here" he replied laughing as well. "Oh by the way did you see Jake here? He walked past me in the hallway but then he just disappeared-" you said remembering what you were going to ask him. "Well he came by the table- but then he just went outside, I guess he's eating lunch at the field now" he replied looking towards the opened cafeteria doors, "But don't worry we can still get in touch with him- I think-"
"Well this is just great, he's completely ignoring us now, how are we even supposed to talk to him at this point" you replied in a panic as you laid your head on your hands trying to figure out what to do. "It's not too late yet we still have a couple more days left until prom" he answered with a smile. You knew he was trying to help, and you appreciated it of course, but he didn't see Jakes face when you told him about prom, he didn't see the letter that Jake wrote his heart out on, and he doesn't know how hard getting him back was actually going to be.
It was going to be harder than you thought as well.
*time sKiP*
As the days went by, things just got worse. The distance between your friend group and Jake grew even further. At first, your friends kept asking what happened and now they don't even bother, it's not like they don't care, but it's like Jake doesn't even go to the same school as you guys anymore. You barely even saw him, which made the horrible feeling in your stomach grow stronger and stronger. You were losing hope. Sometimes you'd even cry yourself to sleep as your thoughts raced wondering if you'll never get him back. And on the days you did see him, he was a totally different person. He didn't laugh anymore he didn't talk anymore, you couldn't even remember his smile. The sarcastic, joyful, happy Jake you knew, was gone.
~and I'm the one to blame~
