"What are you doing here? Don't you have work?" I asked him. "My daughter's getting ready for school, I should be here," He replied.
Media was still outside of the school gates, taking pictures of us. Why on earth are they here? My phone started ringing and it was my secretary, Rachel. "Ma'am, please be careful, the media is there," she said.
"I know, Rachel. But how on earth did they know?" I asked. Yukhei was still standing there beside me, looking at the forms. Luna, on the other hand, was busy playing with her iPad.
"I don't know either, ma'am. I'll try to look into this." Rachel replied. "Please do. I'll update you when I'm on my way to the office," I said and ended the call.
"Why is my name not here?" He asked, confused. "Oh, when I enrolled her, we weren't talking yet, so..." I tried to explain. "Well now that I'm here, let's settle this," He replied.
After double-checking everything, we were finally able to enroll our daughter. "Luna, bubs let's go," I called her.
She immediately stood up and placed her iPad inside her backpack. She came towards us, and I carried her in my arms as we were about to leave the school. "I'll take you to your office," He said. "No, I'm good. I drove here," I replied.
"I already asked the driver to bring your car home," He said. I just nodded since I didn't want to argue anymore. The press was outside waiting for us, taking our pictures and asking us useless questions.
The driver opened the car for us, and we got inside his sedan. The drive to my office was silent. Luna fell asleep for a bit and finally woke up when we arrived at our destination. "Is it alright if Luna stays with you for now? I have lots of meetings scheduled," I asked him before we pulled up to the lobby.
"Yeah, sure." He replied. "Luna, be good okay?" I said and kissed her forehead. "Okay, mommy, I love you," She replied.
"I love you too, my baby," I replied. "Don't forget to eat your lunch, it's not good for you to skip meals," I heard him say.
The driver opened the door and I got off the car. I went inside the building and as usual, the workers greeted me. I went to the elevator and pressed the floor on where my office is located. The doors opened, and I immediately got off the elevator. I went straight to my office. "Good afternoon, ma'am. Here are the documents, and your salad," Rachel greeted me. "Thank you, Rachel," I said and sat down at my desk. I scanned through contracts for a good hour and a half until Rachel called me and said it was time for my meeting.
"It is noticeable that for the first quarter that our sales have gone down, due to the different labeling that we have put last January," The marketing office head said.
"What could be the other factors to this decrease?" I asked. "Ma Industries has recently released a product that has been catching the eyes of consumers," The moment I heard that last name, a mix of anger and fear ran through me.
Lottie's death still wasn't solved, and it was believed that Marcus had a part in it. "Ask the Branding Department to come up with a new label, send me the details via email," I said and took a look at the binder in front of me for the last time.
"Meeting adjourned," I said and stood up from my desk.
3rd Person's POV
Catalina dragged her feet as she left the meeting room. She was tired from wearing heels the entire day.
She arrived at her office, and noticed that her assistant wasn't there, she's just probably taking a break, she said to herself. When she opened the door, there it was written in bloody fat big serial killer letters,
"I'm not done yet,"
The poor girl fell on the floor as her high-pitched scream was heard on the entire floor. Her legs felt wobbly as she fell, holding onto the doorknob for support.
The ding from the elevator sounded, which meant someone was there. Wong Yukhei ran as fast as he could when he heard that high-pitched scream.
When he arrived there, he saw his wife, on the ground, hyperventilating. "Catie, what happened?" The man asked, obviously panicked with his wife's state.
He tried to calm her down since he knew that she had asthma and breathing problems. Catalina didn't respond and continued breathing roughly. Yukhei looked at the wall, and read what was written there.
"Marcus Ma, you piece of shit, I will make your life a breathing hell now,"
The man helped his wife up, as he took off his suit jacket and draped it around her. The poor girl was still trembling, terrified of what she saw written on her office window. Tears were uncontrollably falling down on her cheeks, as her husband gave her a warm embrace.
"He will pay for this, Catie. He will," Yukhei said as he was comforting her. "Xuxi, you don't know how he goes he's known for being notorious-" The girl tried to butt in.
"No, Catie. He has touched you. This is it. I have to make my move." The man pulled away from their embrace and looked at her straight in the eye. "You and Luna are my everything. I can't risk you both," He said, caressing her face.
"Excuse me Madam, but we were told that an incident happened.." the head of security slowly said, not wanting to disturb their moment.
Catalina stood up, still shaky, and tried to respond. "There was. Please do check the camera footage today, and look for any suspicious-looking individuals," Yukhei said.
"May I ask for your identity sir?" The man replied, unsure since he never saw Yukhei before. "I'm her husband, please inform me if you have any updates," He replied.
"Also, please have the office cleaned up, we'll be heading out now," Yukhei said, and the guard just nodded.
They exited the building hand in hand, as Catalina was still frightened by what happened. The entire drive home, Catalina didn't let go of his hand.
She felt so scared that she needed her husband's assurance that she was going to be alright. They eventually arrived home, and Yukhei ushered his wife to their room. He then excused himself as he was going to make a call.
"Xiao De Jun, I have a favor to ask of you."
