Thirty One.

Wong Yukhei

"Mrs. Wong, long time no see," A familiar masculine voice could be heard behind us. I turned around and it was Marcus. I immediately pulled Catalina and Luna behind me. 

"What on earth do you want?" I spat. "Catie, you and Luna go first, I'll catch up with you two," I said and gave her the car keys. 

"Nothing much, Mr. Wong," He replied with a smirk on his face. "I tell you leave me and my family alone before I use my power," I warned him. 

I walked away, making sure I had the groceries and Luna's school supplies. While I was walking to the parking lot, I received a call from Neil. 

"Sir, he just landed," He said. "That's good to hear. Arrange a meeting with him tomorrow," I said. "Noted sir, will update you later," Neil replied and I ended the call. 

I walked towards our car and loaded the things at the trunk. "Hey, are you okay?" Catie asked, with visible fear written on her face. 

"I'm good buba, don't worry," I replied, giving her a kiss on her temple. The drive home was relaxing, as we both listened to Luna, talking about her favorite cartoons.

When we arrived home, I excused myself from Catie who was cooking our food. Neil notified me that Xiaojun wanted to see me via Zoom. I entered my office and sat on my desk.

 "Good afternoon, Xuxi," He greeted.

 Xiaojun is a part of a Chinese mafia, a consigliere, to be exact. "Long time no see, Xiaojun," I replied chuckling. We both met in college. He was a transferee, having a hard time expressing himself in English, so I offered to help him out. 

"So, what seems to be the problem?" He asked.

 "You see, it's my wife's ex-boyfriend. Marcus Ma." I said, gritting my teeth. "Oh, the infamous Marcus Ma," He said. A hint of anger could be seen in his eyes. 

"Teach him a lesson," I said. "Gladly. That bastard needs to pay the price of his nasty deeds." He said, "I'll see you tomorrow right? We could discuss the details about this," He added.

 "Yeah, my secretary is going to send you the details. See you tomorrow, man" I replied. "Yeah, see you," After that, I ended the call. Marcus Ma, just wait and see. I'll make sure you will pay.

Catie was already done cooking when I left my study. "Bubs, the food's here," She said while placing the plate down the table. I sat down in my seat. Luna was already munching on her snacks. I took a bite, and boy I tell you it's good. 

"So, how is it?" She asked me. "It's good buba," I replied and took another bite. "I'm glad you like it bubs," She said and gave me a peck on my temple. After eating we rested for a bit and went for a swim.

I was already getting for bed, Yukhei was still in the shower and I noticed that his phone was ringing. I stood up from my dresser and went to the bedside to see who was calling my husband. I looked at the caller ID, and I immediately dropped the phone. 

The bathroom door opened, and I could hear his footsteps walking towards me. "Bubs, you okay?" I couldn't respond. 

Millions of thoughts were going through my head on why my husband was communicating with a mafia member. 

"Baby," I felt his presence behind me. My voice was shaky as I asked him. 

"Xuxi..." I said. "Why are you in contact with a mafia member?" I asked.
