"Daddy, when will I get to see Mommy again?" Luna asked her father. Yukhei on the other hand, was busy with work, since he had to deal with the back lag, because he was hospitalized.
"Soon, baby. After I'll finish Daddy will take you there," Yukhei replied and the little girl just continued playing with her dolls.
Luna hasn't seen her mother in almost a week. Catie, being in a coma, bother Yukhei so much. He tried so hard to function, act as if his wife was going to be alright.
But the thought of Catie not waking up always haunted him. He blamed himself so much. Catie was harmed because of his brother. It was plastered in his mind and soul that he was the reason why his beloved wife was at the hospital fighting for her precious life.
"Wong Xiyi, currently in critical condition, convicted of two counts of attempted murder"
"Wong brother's feud ended in gunfire"
"Catalina Wong in critical condition, after being shot by brother-in-law Wong Xiyi"
"Marcus Ma, connected to the black market together with Wong Group's Wong Xiyi"
The news headlines for the past days were all about the incident that happened. It was stressful for not only Yukhei, but for his entire family.
Their father has already made his statement, about officially removing Wong Xiyi from the list of shareholders and from the family. Yukhei has been contacted by different news outlets, wanting to know his side of the story. He refused to say anything since he doesn't want the issue to become big.
"Mr. Wong, your wife's vitals are great. We just have to wait for her to wake up, and recover from the trauma," the doctor said.
"Alright. Thank you so much doctor," Yukhei replied, and the doctor left the room. Luna was at the corner of the room, hugging her teddy, crying because she wants to hug her mother so bad.
"Oh, come here, my princess," Yukhei said, as he carried his daughter in his arms. "Your mommy's going to wake up soon, okay?" He said, as he gently patted her back to calm her down.
Luna suffers from separation anxiety, so she had a hard time adjusting to Catie not being around their home.
Yukhei sat down beside Catie, with Luna sitting in his lap. He held his wife's hand, gently. "Cat, Luna's here. She misses you so bad, you know." He said, as he gently stroked her hand.
"Please wake up already, my love." He added. As if on cue, Catalina's eyes slowly fluttered opened, which made Yukhei shocked. Luna got down his lap as he moved closer to his wife.
"I'll call the doctor," He said as he rushed his way out.
"Mrs. Wong, blink twice if you hear me," the doctor said, and Catie blinked, indeed. It was a huge relief to Yukhei that his wife was finally awake. The doctor then proceeded to check on Catie's vitals and then talked with Yukhei.
"Mr. Wong, your wife's vitals are good as always. We just need to run some extra tests, to make sure that she is fully recovered and ready for discharge in the next two days," the doctor said.
"Your wife is indeed a fighter, Mr. Wong," the doctor added. "She is, doctor. Thank you so much," Yukhei said, and the doctor left. He hurriedly went back inside the room.
"Catie, do you need anything? Are you in pain?" Yukhei asked as he stood beside her.
"Just water, please," she weakly replied. She looked at her daughter, who was sitting at the side, slowly watching her.
"Luna, baby come here," she said. The little girl reluctantly stood up from her seat and went close to her.
"I'm so sorry, baby. Mommy wasn't able to see you for quite some time," Catie said, as tears fell on her cheeks. "I missed you so much, mommy," Luna replied, as cheeks were also coming out of her cheeks.
"Noo, don't cry baby," Catie said, as she tried to sit up, but winced in pain. Her stab wound located at her lower abdomen still hurt, which made her lay back down. "Hey, take it easy babe," Yukhei said, as he passed her a glass of water.
"Xuxi, I'm so sorry, the stress must have been so bad," Catie said. "It was, but I had to deal with it love. It's all good now. You're now awake," Xuxi said, as he took Luna in his arms and carried her. He wiped his daughter's tears away.
"I'm just so happy to be alive, and not on the other side now," Catie said. She was still crying, traumatized by the near-death experience.
"Bubs, stop crying, hmm? It's not good for your wound," Yukhei said. "It was just so scary you know? I thought I was never going to see you both again," she added.
"Well, you're still here now. And that's what matters the most," he replied.
Their moment was suddenly disrupted by a knock on the door. Luna was now sleeping om Yukhei's shoulder as he opened the door. It was their family attorney. "Ah, Mr. Lim, what brings you here?" Yukhei said, as he invited the middle-aged man inside.
"I heard that Mrs. Wong was already awake, and I just wanted to personally tell you the news," he said.
Catie slowly reclined the hospital bed, as the couple both listened to the man. "Your case has been filed, and is now being screened by the court," he said.
"That's such a relief, attorney. When would the trial begin?" Yukhei asked. "In two to three weeks. The witness statement is still needed," Mr. Lim said.
"Mrs. Wong, it would be nice if you would be able to hand in your statement. Not necessarily now, but when you have already fully recovered, do contact the station," he said. "Yes, Mr. Lim, I will once I get discharged," Catie replied.
A week has passed since Catie has been discharged from the hospital. She has been feeling better, although she still experiences light migraines from time to time.
Johnny has also been visiting her from time to time checking up on her condition. It was until she received a phone call from the person she didn't expect to talk to again.
