Wong Yukhei
That was her? I really didn't expect her to come from an elite family because she looked so simple at the airport. I understand what she feels though.
I was also surprised to know that I will be marrying someone from the Chu family. "Yukhei, I'm really sorry for her attitude, she isn't always like this." Mrs. Chu said.
"No, it's alright Auntie, I understand." I replied with a small smile. "Why don't you go to her room and try to talk to her." She said. " Oh sure Auntie, which room is it?" I asked.
"The first one on the left, upstairs." Auntie said with a smile. I immediately went up the stairs and went to her room. The door was half opened and I heard her talking to the phone.
"Johnny, I'm getting married" She said with sarcasm. Who the heck is Johnny? Is he her boyfriend?
"No, I don't want to." She said again. I knocked at the door.
"John, I'll talk to you later, he's here." She said as she hung up the phone.
"May I come in?" I said. "I guess so," She replied. I went inside her room and I noticed that her room was mostly filled with paintings with hints of pink.
"Let's introduce ourselves then?" I said. "Sure you go first," she said. "I'm Wong Yukhei, you can call me Lucas. I'm 23 and currently studying my MBA at Oxford."
I said looking in her eyes. She's quite beautiful. " I'm Catalina Anne Chu, Catie for short. I'm 21, studying Psychology at Oxford," I said. "So you go to Oxford too huh?" I asked.
"Yes I do." She replied. "Well then Catie, it's nice to meet you," I said with a smirk.
"That's Catalina for you, mister. Only my close friends can call me that." she said quite pissed at me. She looks so cute. I walked towards her bed and noticed a bouquet of white roses with a card that read, "Welcome back, princess. -J.S." So she has a boyfriend I guess?
Maybe that's the reason why she doesn't want to marry me. "Who is J.S. if may I ask?" I asked out of curiosity. "He's someone very close to me, I grew up with him." She replied. "Who is Marcus then?" her eyes suddenly hardened when I mentioned his name.
What exactly happened to them? "That is none of your business." She replied.
"Could you please go now? I am still jet lagged and I want to sleep," She said. "Ok then, I'll pick you up tomorrow at seven and we could go to the Shang's banquet together." I said.
"Okay, sure. Drive safely." She's still polite even if she's pissed. I closed the door and went down the stairs. I saw her parents sitting at the patio.
"Mr. & Mrs. Chu, I'll get going now, thank you for the tea." I said with a slight bow.
"I'm really sorry about my daughter's behavior today. She's just in shock." Mrs. Chu said as she smiled apologetically.
"It's alright, Mrs. Chu. We spoke already. I'll get going then, have a lovely evening." I said and got inside my Lamborghini. I'm really curious about her though. She seems nice and dainty at the same time.
I checked my watch, and it was only 7:30pm, which means some jewelry shops are still open. I wanted to get Catalina something for the banquet tomorrow.
I drove to the mall, and left my car at valet. I went inside Tiffany & Co. because I wanted to get her a ring or maybe a bracelet.
I still couldn't decide. I browsed through the store and a certain ring caught my attention. It was a diamond ring. It looks so beautiful. I called the sales associate and asked her about the ring. "Excuse me, can I please take a look at this ring?" I asked her.
