Next day...
"I don't think me and Unnie will be attending the classes today. The company called and said that we're excused for the M/V shoot today."
Clark read Wonyoung's message right as he entered the classroom. As a fanboy, Clark is happy because the girls are shooting their M/V, which means that their debut is coming together. He sat in his chair and looked outside the window. He wished that the day would quickly be over, thinking it'd be a boring day because the present wasn't present.
Well, wishes do not come true every time. He still has a major subject to attend to, and he remembers that he has to perform something later on.
"I still have 2 hours before our major class; I have time to practice."
He told himself that he left their homeroom classroom and went to the instruments room to practice the piece that his teacher asked him to perform later.
"Okay, I performed it before. I just need my hands to remember it."
He told himself. Just then, his hand started pressing on the piano keys, and the rhythm of the song filled the room.
2 hours later...
Clark is waiting for his teacher to call him. He sat on his usual seat, but without her best friend, the girl he liked.
"Mr. Lim, are you ready?"
His teacher called. He nodded and followed his teacher to the stage to deliver the piece that his teacher had asked for. He sat on the stool and let out a small breath. He then started playing, and like the first time, he did it better than they expected.
The performance was short enough that it made the audience think that it ended in a blink. It was a short but meaningful one as far as what they could draw out of it. Everyone gave him a round of applause for his outstanding performance, which he would've loved even more if his best friend had there watching.
Clark's day ended just like that; he was so used to going out with Wonyoung that he thinks that it would be boring if he went to the mall alone. He arrived at his house earlier than his mom knew, which surprised her. He then went straight to his room after giving his mom a cheek kiss.
"How's the filming so far?"
He texted Wonyoung before going to the bathroom to take a shower. He spent almost an hour inside just thinking about all the things that happened. He also criticized himself for being a dramatic boy, despite his usual unfazed guy image back in his home country.
After coming out of the bathroom all freshened up, he went and checked his phone for some replies, but there were none.
"Maybe they're still filming."
He said this before going out to his room's terrace. He watched people on the sidewalk pass by their building. They come in pairs, groups, or even solo.
"I should hone myself to be content with my relationship with Wonyoung."
A random statement came out of his mouth. He was surprised by his statement but then agreed to it.
"I should accept the fact that being friends with her is more than enough, and I should also consider myself lucky that all of her fans out there are in my position right now."
The words of enlightenment that came from himself were enough to make him realize that he was crossing the line that he had established in the first place. He then came up with an idea.
"I should start by enjoying something alone."
He said this before rushing to get inside and changing into casual clothes. He then went out of his room and found his mom watching television.
"Mom! I'll be back at 5 or 6 p.m. I love you!
He left a kiss on his mom's cheeks before leaving the house. He quickly ran to the elevator, catching up with the person who called for it.
"Hmm, should I play computer games?"
He thought. Clark loves computer games as much as his friends did back in middle school. When there was time, they would play computer games to have fun and sometimes attend small tournaments to have some competition.
"Yeah, I should."
He concluded as the elevator doors opened, which meant that it had arrived at the ground floor.
He googled PC Bangs that are near his place and found one nearby. He followed the directions on the maps and saw that it was only a few blocks away from his place. He went inside and saw how different-looking it was from what PC Bangs looked like in his home country.
"Woah!!"
He had his eyes wide open.
"No wonder Korean players are good."
He commented before going to the cashier's booth. He asked for a briefing and was told everything he needed to know about the place. After it finished, he left and went to choose the spot where he felt most comfortable playing. Like in the past, he likes to sit on the ends. He booted the PC up and began playing the games that he usually plays.
While playing, he had IZ*ONE songs queued up for him to listen to. He's currently watching the M/V of Violeta while waiting for the match to load up. He then switched tabs after hearing the in-game music that played in the background.
"Okay, let's start playing."
He said he was cracking the bones in his fingers.
Two hours later...
Clark was still on the PC, playing a game, when his phone lit up. He glanced and saw Wonyoung's name on the notification panel. Despite it being an important game, he still checked on her message.
"I just got home; I'm sorry I wasn't able to reply right away."
Wonyoung said in the message that Clark was smiling like a fool while reading the message.
"It's fine; how was it?"
He was about to send it, but then he realized that he was going back to square one again, so he made some changes.
"It's fine; you should rest now."
He felt proud and sent the message. He put his phone down and turned his focus back to the PC screen, but it was too late. Their team lost.
