Riley's POV
*
After driving and showing me around the town, we finally went back to the mansion. At the village market we visited, there'd been so many local shops and stalls, surprisingly enough. And beast had taken me around some short cuts where we'd passed by some old women selling fishes in baskets, fresh vegetables, butchered meat and all other kinds of stuff like that, picking them with their bare hands and calling on passers to buy what they were selling.
The sight was beautiful and at the same time foreign to me.
Just like when we'd been strolling around at the market, we attracted so much attention from most of the younger ladies at the at his farmland where so many workers curtsied as we strolled along and I noticed they were eager to say hello. Even the children were happy to be around the beast.
I noticed that the younger ladies couldn't look him in the eye but still, they were all a bunch of blushing mess. This had made me chuckle even though he didn't seem to act as if he even noticed how the younger ladies and some of the older women were visibly drinking and undressing him with their eyes.
The men spoke to him with respect, curtseying and firmly nodding in reverence every now and then.
"They don't only respect you here, unlike at the black house. Here, they both respect and fear you."
He chuckled as we went back towards the mansion. "Hmm. As they should."
"Because you're the owner of their mansion and like their King right?" I probed.
He stopped working and spared me a glance. "Yes. Capo di tutti capi."
I nodded. He was the boss of all bosses indeed. The title suited him perfectly.
We didn't exchange anymore words after that.
When we got back into the mansion a little while after, a young man with sharp, attractive features approached us and curtsied, his eyes solely trained on the Beast. He had dark brown, spiky hair and a silver nose ring with thin lips.
Beast didn't even spare him a glance. "Speak."
"The Caballeros require your presence sir."
"Has April taken care of my orders as instructed?" His eyes remained on his phone.
"I believe she's on it as we speak sir."
"Okay. Escort them to the chamber. I will be with them shortly."
The man nodded again and left.
"I have a meeting to deal with and some guests to attend to. Don't leave your room and don't allow anyone in."
I nodded and watched him walk through another way and out of my sight.
Turning around to face the stairs, I shook my head at the strict instruction for me to not leave my room and climbed the stairs back up.
Sighing, I opened my Netflix on my phone and started watching a movie on it. A yearly subscription had already been made on it so all I had to do was click and watch whatever I wanted whenever I felt like.
It was good to live like this. But I knew I would eventually have to do something with my life. Soon.
Feeling pressed, I dropped my phone on the bed and went to ease myself, lazily humming a song.
I did my business, still humming when my back suddenly straightened.
Catching a faint swoosh sound from behind me, I ducked my head and turned around, with my head still ducked.
