Riley's POV

*

I could hear country music and murmuring every now and then. People were moving around, carrying bowls, moving clothes or curtains, transferring vintage household utensils, moving different stuffs around.

I was still limping just a little but due to the numerous exercises I'd been made to perform- per Beasts' demands- I could conveniently move around on my own. A bright blue short dress had been delivered to my room this morning, along with a pair of silver shoes and silver jewelry case.

They were all lovely.

After my little chat with Beast where he asked me the meaning of Dolce Papa- which was quite awkward, though I wouldn't mind him teasing me some more since he's hot and all- I had my breakfast and took a good nap, and I only just woke up now at past three at noon.

Getting out of bed, I stretched and let out a moan, feeling refreshed.

"It's time for your bath miss-"

"Don't bother, I'd like to bathe myself. Thanks though." I told the maid who'd been assigned to always stay with me.

A look of surprise flashed across the woman's face so fast that I almost didn't catch it. It was like she didn't expect me to talk to her this way, maybe because I rarely spoke to anyone that wasn't Ingrid or Beast and Dennis. She shook her head.

"I was ordered to help you get ready, miss. Please allow me." She said somewhat awkwardly.

I smiled. "It's fine. I can take a very good care of myself, okay? Nothing to fuss over. If I need any help, I'll call you."

"Alright then, I'll check back in twenty minutes." She finally agreed. I nodded and watched her leave before helping myself to the bathroom and having a good scrub.

The maid came back just as I was trying to pull up the zipper.

"My leg has almost fully healed. I won't be needing you or any other maid to walk with me, okay?"

"Alright miss, but we'll have to confirm with Mr Dennis."

"It's fine, Dennis is like a big bro to me and I'll tell him I dismissed you. Having people gawk at me or stand around me twenty four seven can be suffocating. Even when I sigh, you think I need something. I can handle myself from hereon."

The woman sighed as I sat at the edge of the bed and she went on her knees, helping me wear my three inch glass heel.

"What's your name?"

"Uh, Dana miss."

"Dana, do you have any kids?"

I looked up from my feet to her face just as she was nodding. "Yes, a boy and two girls."

"They must be lucky to have a beautiful and hardworking mom." I commented and stood up.

Maybe if I had a mom I wouldn't be here. I'd be in bed, groaning while she yells all the way from downstairs for me to get out of bed and go shower and then my dad would peck her cheek and run out to start another day as a police officer.

A shaky breath escaped my lips. I was asking for the impossible. They were both long gone but nonetheless I had a family now and we were all one. The Beast's family was now my family.
