Luciano's POV
*
The past two days had been a busy one for me and my men. The ride back home was quite bumpy. Dennis and Keanu had to go around to make some arrangements so I headed home.
Only to hear Riley's frantic call immediately I stepped out of my Audi.
And for the past two minutes, I'd been trying to guide her down the tree. Where was the idiot I told to guard her two four seven?
"Trust me Riley." I told her again, trying to sound soft so she wouldn't get hurt while coming down. She had trust issues and she was quite calculating.
If she wasn't sure of a decision, she wouldn't make it. But there was no time to deliberate at the moment.
I had to make her trust me.
I'd never told anyone to trust me before, not even Amelia. It was their choice if they chose to do so or not. But this was Riley, the girl under my protection.
Her eyes were looking around in fear and alarm. She released herself at the last minute and I caught her. Her face was pale
"Beast...it's painful." She groaned.
I felt something stir in my spirit. This girl never relied on anyone, and she never complained even with the rigorous tasks she'd gone through during her training. Yet here she was, complaining about the pain, her face covered in sweat.
"You'll be fine soon, Riley. We need to get her to the hospital on time." I narrowed my eyes at Leonardo who hadn't taken his concerned eyes off her.
"The poison is spreading. Hand her to me so I can perform some first aid." He reached for her.
No. I would never.
"Mai." I stated sharply and that had him leveling me a stare of disbelief but I didn't care. I promised not to let her go. Luciano never breaks his promise.
Ryan, her bodyguard was just returning. His footsteps slowed down when he saw her in my arms and he marched forward.
"Riley, Boss-"
"Go to the priest, and reflect on your actions. You had only one damn job and you still failed. Leave." I bit out. He had only one job and that was to never take his eyes off her.
"What happened to her?" This time it was Ingrid that asked in a frantic tone.
I ignored her and rushed into my room, placing her on the bed.
Leonardo was beside me in a flash, rambling off as usual.
"I need to get the poison out. I'll have to take off her pants because the bite was on her thigh and we need to get her some drugs immediately. Get some of your men in here." He went to the door and gave out some instructions before I could even move a muscle.
My eyes hadn't left her for even a second. She was no longer groaning or slowly moving her head. Her face was very pale.
"Riley..."
I squinted when she didn't say a word or look my way.
"Riley?" I tapped her cheek, and I realized I was registering how soft her skin was despite the situation of things.
Leonardo dashed back to her. He reached for her belt buckle but I stopped him.
"This is a death and life issue Luciano! It isn't the time to show your possessiveness over your little girlfriend."
