Riley's POV
*
I woke up with a startled gasp and tears streaming down my cheeks. "Luciano!"
My chest heaved as I took rapid breaths in, my lips parting in a desperate pant. "Luciano." I called, listening to know if he'd gone into the en suite to ease himself but he didn't respond.
A frown morphed on my forehead, confusion clouding my head for a few seconds as I looked around and realized where I was. I was in my room.
How did I get here? I hadn't even been in my room in a while.
The last thing I remembered was that we'd been kidnapped... Beast! He rescued me. He was shot, but he'd used bulletproof vest so he'd not been hurt.
I sat up and bolted out of my room, murmuring in return when a guard called my name and fell into steps behind me. Luciano. I needed to find him, to make sure he was safe and he was unhurt. I'd slept immediately the doctor tended to me and then every other thing after that had been a blur.
"Where's Beast?" I asked the bodyguard.
"In his office."
"Okay." I alighted the stairs and walked to his office.
Knocking, I heard a husky 'who's there?'
"Riley."
"Come in."
I walked in and looked around. There were several men in the office and it looked like they were having a meeting. Dennis was absent but Luci's men were all present. I stood at the door, skeptical of walking over since he was obviously busy but he motioned with his fingers for me to walk closer.
"Hello." I greeted them in general and they murmured greetings in return, most of them calling me Donna which made me blush because I knew what that word meant. While the male leader of a gang or organization was the don, the female was the Donna.
On getting to him, he pulled me into him and made me sit on his thighs. I struggled not to think about the company he had, not used to his PDA but when I took a glance sideways, none of his men were looking at us.
"How are you?" He asked me softly and I adjusted so I could see his face.
"I'm fine. Have you spoken to those men? Did they say who sent them?" I whispered so his men wouldn't know what I was asking.
"Yes. My men are working on it."
"Are we leaving this place? Remember Rico said the men at the security were harmed. It wouldn't be safe for us to keep staying here."
He shook his head, tracing his palm over my lap in an up and down motion. "This house is our home. We can't leave here."
My stomach clenched at his title for the black house. Our home.
"Okay. Can I wait here till you're done with your work?" A part of me felt apprehensive about being alone because of what had happened a while ago. Had he even gotten himself checked?
He nodded. "Stay on my thighs. I'll be done soon." He whispered.
"No. You're in a meeting and I wouldn't want to cause a distraction." I whispered back and frowned at the thought of sitting on his thighs while he was in an important meeting but he shook his head.
"We'll be done soon. Very soon."
"Okay." I played on my phone, feeling like a little girl because of how he was treating me but I loved it so I couldn't complain. He spoke with his men, mentioning my brothers a few times as they spoke in thick Italian.
