Riley's POV

*

I'd always been a cautious person.

I lived a little recklessly sometimes and damned the consequences to hell but even in the midst of chaos, I would still make sure I was cautious so as not do do irreparable damage or regret my actions.

Still, it was both surprising and alarming to discover that after being a very careful for the major part of my life, I still ended up falling prey into the hands of a dangerous man, who looked like he wanted to squash my face and have my guts spilled out with just a punch.

It was at the point of considering my life choices and where I must've gone wrong that I felt myself lose consciousness.

My head bobbed lazily and I slowly came back to a full state of consciousness, recognizing my surroundings. But I couldn't see a thing.

Confusion spiked up in me and then the feeling of sudden fear arose, successfully suppressing all other emotions and kicking me into a fight and flight mode as I struggled against the restraints on my wrists while realization fully dawned.

I had been blindfolded.

Also, I had been kidnapped.

Fear was drumming in my veins but I needed to do something. It seemed I wasn't going to get killed because the man who abducted me could've easily done it while I was in that restroom the other time.

Why was I only waking up now? How long was I out for?

Also, where was he taking me to?

"Uh..hello? Wh-who exactly are you? Where are you taking me to? I promise you that I don't know anything and can't be of any use t-to you. Please just let me go and I won't say a word to anyone. Can you even hear me?  Taking m-me is useless, I'm useless. P-please." I stuttered, trying to sound confident as I mentally struggled not to accept the state of my vulnerability while also struggling in vain with the restraints holding my hands firmly together.

What would he do to me? Where was he taking me to?!

"Uhm, Are you there? Hello?" I asked in a louder voice.

The whole car was silent before I felt the car suddenly swerve into another road.

Now I could hear the movement of the tyres over granite.

My heart started thumping wildly in my chest. I blinked, realizing I was close to tears already.

"Please just release me, I beg you. I'm useless. I don't have any special skills I can help you with and I'm a clutz. Also I do stupid things on a daily basis. Please just let me go." The tears had gathered in my eyes at this point.

Was he going to assault me? Or was he a cannibal? But he kidnapped me in broad daylight. That just doesn't add up. I could feel my temperature rising as I sat there, unable to do anything to help myself. It was a very empty feeling.

"If you're a human eater, I assure you that I'm not tasty-" I broke into a sob, choking on my words.

"Keep shut, penguin." The man's deep deep voice suddenly cut through the air and I stiffened.

"Sir?" I asked, dread coiling up my guts. "You're not a human eater. Thank God. Please I beg you to let me go sir. I can't be of any use to you. I'm not a secret genius or something, hell didn't even get to finish school. Please. I don't know how much you were paid sir-"

I heard him grumble something and I didn't even catch what he said.

"Come again?"

"The name's Dennis." He growled lowly.
