It was past midnight on Friday when a boy was finishing his last essays.

San sighed, eyes closing for a moment as he shut the laptop. He rested his forehead down against the surface with a sigh.

"Finally," he muttered. He stood up, did a few stretches, went for some snacks, and returned to his desk. He did all of his work for college early for a reason.

This weekend he would spend it solely on gaming.

San closed everything and anything related to school. He opened up a few games and took a sip from his energy drink. As he adjusted his headset, he scrolled over to open his game.

San enjoyed multiplayer shooter games where he could join a team. And being a high-ranking player, he would often play with or against talented players too.

In this particular round, he wouldn't last ten seconds before being sniped by the same person over and over again.

'Yoo.J99'

That same stupid username popped up when San died. San's eyebrows pressed together in frustration. He was so tired of this person. It made him want to yell or curse.

'Sniped by Yoo.J99'

"Stop killing me!" San shouted into the microphone. He rarely spoke in-game unless he played with friends. But now he was mad.

Some staticky laughter came on. "I'm sorry, dude," they said. "You're just really obvious."

San sighed, forgetting he was unmuted. The other person felt a little bad.

"You're a good player," they continued. "But I can catch your movements quickly."

"Seriously?"

"Serious."

"Damn," San muttered, finally shutting his microphone in defeat.

'Incoming friend request from Yoo.J99.'

"If you accept my request, I can show you how to do it too."

San dragged his high-tech mouse over to the accept button. He allowed it to linger above for a second before pushing down.

From there, San and this person worked as teammates. They played together for the next day on and off calls. Slowly but surely, they learned to get to know each other well.

The person's name was Yunho, and he was so professional, dedicated, and funny at the same time. San was impressed by how relaxed his attitude was.

Yunho was amazed by San as well. He was a guy who didn't talk to people often. It bled through his delicate voice how nervous he was. Yunho found it pretty adorable the way he could get flustered quickly. He felt that they could complement each other well, both on and off video games.

Wait, complement?

Yunho sounded crazy.

Their calls ceased to be merely about video games. San and Yunho got to know each other deeply — like a feeling of best friends through the few hours they talked.

"I have something weird to ask," San began that evening.

"I don't think you need to worry. I've told you about the crush I had on one of my professors, breaking my hand on an apple trying to impress my friend, and wearing lace for the first time. There's nothing weird."

"Yeah," San chuckled, getting a little red because he was asking for no reason.

"What's up?"

"Are you... single?"

Some silence, then a laugh. "Did I scare you?"

"No..."

Yunho laughed harder. "You didn't breathe for a second, I'm sure."

"Fine. Nevermind."

"No, no! I'm single. Why? Are you interested?"

"In? I mean—" San blushed harder.

"San!" Yunho shouted while laughing. "You're really cute."

"Seriously?"

"We need to meet in person one day."

San gulped. If Yunho held the power to make him like this over a call, imagine in person.

But San grew a little bold too.

"I'm free next week," he joked.

"Cool. Same. Where do you want to go?" Yunho calmly asked. San started panicking inside. "Actually, let me handle it. I'll send you the details."

~~~
San braced himself and fixed his collar in the car. He eyed the place before him.
'Light on the Horizon.'
What the hell was that name, San thought. He didn't know Yunho would choose such a beautiful place. A simple restaurant would've been okay.
Now he was at the entrance of some fancy jazz bar. San didn't know how to describe it. It was elegant. A mix of gold and red went into the place. The lights were dim, and to the left was a wall full of glasses and wine bottles. In the back, a live band played soft jazz to serve as background.
San just had to mention Yunho, and the host knew where to take him. He felt nervous at the thought of meeting this person. It was a weird type where he was mentally prepared but not so much physically. His stomach was queasy and throat dry.
"Hi."
San scratched the back of his neck. "Hi."
Yunho broke into laughter, not minding some looks from other people. "This is so awkward. I'm sorry."
"I know," San added with a smile.
"Sit down, though. Let's drink."
San wanted to take it slow, but Yunho's presence and attitude was so attractive and strong, he always had to go along with it. Now he had no idea how many shots they'd taken.
Yunho was watching the band when a hand gripped his arm. Although he jerked, he turned to it.
"Let me ask you one. more. question." San playfully smiled. Yunho leaned forward a little and squeezed his hand.
"Alright. But only because you're cute."
San grinned and inched forward to place a kiss on Yunho's forehead bravely.
"I like you."
"Is that a question?" Yunho slyly replied.
"No! I wasn't done yet." San kissed the tip of his nose now. "Do you like me too?"
A smirk grew on Yunho's face as his eyes flickered between San's eyes and his lips.
"Yes. I do like you back."
Yunho's fingers warmly held San's chin as they kissed softly. It was only a few seconds long, but to San and Yunho, it was something relieving that could last for hours.
San's face warmed. "Hm. Okay."
"Okay? Okay?? That's all?" Yunho asked. San laughed, looking down in shame.
"I don't know. I've never been in this situation before."
"You think I've invited a pretty boy to a fancy bar before?"
"You know how to kiss pretty boys!" San retorted.
"Mhm. And I can show you how to do it too." Yunho brought their lips together again into a slightly rough yet passionate kiss.
"Was that enough? Or do you want to complain some more?"
San giggled. "More."
