Zap! Zap! Zap!
The water from the spray softly fell onto the green leaves of a potted plant. Hongjoong turned his head a little bit to inspect every inch of it. Good. Onto the next one.
A pretty batch of flowers just delivered. Lisianthus is what Hongjoong remembered they were called. Their creamy white color with deep purple tips at the end is what excites Hongjoong. He just put them in stock, so he couldn't wait for customers to come in and ask for the flower.
It was a sunny yet windy day. Sunlight flooded into Hongjoong's establishment, but shadows walked into the floor when a person outside walked by.
Sometimes he would get many customers. Mostly during holidays when couples arrived to get a last-minute gift, and he would laugh with them and wish the people a good evening. It warmed his heart to make people happy.
And sometimes, there would be no customers or very few at all. Hongjoong laughs at the thought when it was the first week, and very few clients came in, so he was worried the idea would fail. But his boyfriend reassured him it would be fine, and this was just the beginning. Days later, the business started gaining speed. Regulars entered because of Hongjoong's bright and heartwarming personality.
A few blocks down, on the busy highway, several motorcycles sped in between the cars. They would run along the shoulder roads or simply cut in between the otherwise calm vehicles, giving them a scare.
The one in front seemed to leave the others behind smugly.
The man was Park Seonghwa. He was quite skilled at driving and didn't hesitate to go a mile or so ahead of his group. So he grinned and continued on the way.
Upon reaching an exit, he pulled into a nearby church parking lot and waited for the guys to arrive. He checked the time when they pulled in.
"Why are you all so slow?"
"I'm not slow. You're just early," one of them, named San, muttered while taking off his helmet.
"I have to go. Where's my money?" Seonghwa held out his hand.
Another, Mingi, laughed. "Maybe we should stop calling races if we know Seonghwa's going to win."
The others agreed. But his friends gave him the money anyway.
"I'll see you guys on Monday."
"Hey! Good luck with today!" they yelled. Seonghwa nodded, got on his bike, and sped down the streets of downtown.
Hongjoong wrapped a small bouquet and handed it to an old woman.
"Thank you, Hongjoong. You're always so sweet and careful with my flowers," she tenderly said.
"It's always a pleasure selling to you, ma'am." Hongjoong watched her go and turned to check his phone. No calls or texts yet.
"Excuse me, how much for the cute boy standing behind the counter?"
Hongjoong turned with a squeal and ran to Seonghwa's arms. He kissed the man's cheek in happiness.
"You're late," he commented.
"I know. But the gang's really slow, and..." Seonghwa shrugged.
"You won?"
"Yeah. Good for a fancy dinner this weekend. How about that?"
"Mmm, maybe." Hongjoong smiled.
"Maybe? What other plans do you have?" Seonghwa tackled his face with kisses everywhere, prompting giggles from the younger.
