Very late, but birthday oneshot for San!!

San lay in bed one night, bedroom lights off and windows slightly up. The breeze pushed his curtains nicely and allowed fresh air to come in.

He just couldn't sleep.

In just a few hours was his birthday.

And he was supposed to be sleeping early.

Why?

Jung Wooyoung.

"You should rest up for tomorrow," the younger said over the call.

"Mm, where are we going?"

"You'll have to wait."

San smiled with blush on his cheeks. "Please~," he sang.

"Sannie, I'm not going to tell you. No matter how much you want to plead," Wooyoung replied.

"Best friend," San called. "Tell me."

"You'll love it. I promise."

San couldn't wait for his day with Wooyoung. He was attached to his best friend.

The pair referred to themselves as best friends, but it was clear to every student at their high school, even themselves, that they felt something a little more.

San huffed and turned around in bed. He really liked his friend. And it was clear that Wooyoung liked him in return.

Maybe San should ask him tomorrow.

San shot up from his bed. Tripping over his large blanket once or twice, he made it to the door.

"Dad?"

Seonghwa, who lay on the couch with Hongjoong while watching TV, turned to him. "Hey. Weren't you asleep?"

"I... No." San gulped. "I can't."

The parents sat up in worry. "What's wrong?" asked Hongjoong.

"I need advice." San sat down on the empty couch across them. He pressed his lips in thought.

"With?"

"...I want to ask someone out."

San fell into immediate regret the moment his parents stared open-mouth at him. But Hongjoong was quick to snap out of his shocked state.

"Really? That's... great!" he said. "Who is it, Sannie?"

"..."

"Hm?"

San nervously played with the drawstrings of his pajama pants.

"Is it a sweet girl?"

"...a boy, actually," San whispered, still entertained by rolling the strings.

Seonghwa's eyes lit up as he slapped Hongjoong's shoulder. "Wooyoung."

"Huh?" San looked up, eyes wide.

"It's Wooyoung."

Hongjoong nodded with a teasing smile. "Ah, that boy."

"What? No... No, it's not-" San sighed. "It is."

"We're your parents. Of course we know," Seonghwa proudly replied.

Seeing his son's slightly frustrated face, Hongjoong watched him tenderly. "He's a nice boy, San. Go for it."

"But I don't know how." San sighed. "How did you two start dating?"

Seonghwa smiled. "Hongjoong was playing the piano one evening after school. I was leaving my last club when I stopped by to hear him."
