13. National Hispanic Movement Organization award

Tonight is the night for the award ceremony for Hispanics who give back to their communities.
Jane, Maur and I go to the Venue. We are working on putting all the goodie bags together, making sure all the areas people will go is safe. Yes, we are here in an official capacity too. Jane and Antonio come back to the committee with recommendations on how to improve security.  "Chair president celebrity guests.  We highly recommend you hire off duty officers  who can blend into the crowd.  I know several officers that may even do it for free as a favor to me. You decide but either way this needs to be addressed."   "Jane please handle this area for us. If we have to pay, we will."  "I will get back with you in a few."
Jane calls Lt. CAVANAUGH.  "Lt. Antonio and I found some security flaws that can make it unsafe for the celebrities.  I am hoping to receive your approval to have Nina, Frost, Korsak, Frankie and Detective Lacey to be here. If you agree, please let me know like now sir."  "Yes, I will tell them all to report here in 30 minutes on our dime."   "THANK YOU LT.  I walk over to the chair president. All five detectives will be here in 30 minutes so Antonio and I can go over the issues."
The additional detectives arrive.  Maur is busy with the wardrobe people for the guests who will be presenting the awards while Antonio and I go over our concerns. 
Jane speaks first. " I know someone of you won't like your assignments but the city is paying for you to be here and each one of you will receive a goodie bag. The goodie bag alone will make it worth it.  Korsak we need you at the door dressed in the clothes that the hotel has on loan for each one of you. Lacey and Frankie  you  two will be in the  bathrooms handing out creams, tissues and breath mints. Frost and Nina  you two will be behind on the stage to make sure no one who isn't suppose to be there won't be. You take one side each."   "I  will take you all to be fitted for your attire. If the shoes are uncomfortable.  Stay until you find ones that are. We need you to be able to move if necessary. All you need to be in your positions by three pm no later." Antonio takes them to the wardrobe area and to have their pictures taken for their security badges. " I  am to tell you that you have the rest of the day off until the event. Please don't be late."

We all meet up with the rest of the committee members.  We eat Italian lunch provided by the hotel and head off to our homes to get ready for the event.
I walk downstairs when the limo driver calls me that he is here. Romero looks very nice and I tell him. " See what happens when you get your act together." Romero opens my door and we head off to pick up Maura.  "Dawson if it wasn't for you and Atwater believing in me,  supporting me, helping me in school work and finding the doctor to remove my tattoos which was painful not going to lie, but you made me believe in myself.  I am glad you guys found me when you did and Atwater allowed me to stay with him when I moved to Boston.  I have my own place now. married and have a little girl that is my world. Thank you."   "Your welcome, but you were the one who took the leap and made the changes. It wasn't easy and I know that." I call Jane. " We are outside now."   " Dawson is she your date. She is very attractive one and the dress looks wow on her.  Yes, I know I am family man but not dead." Romero offers his hand while I offer mine so she can get in. " Jane are we still picking up Harry? I wasn't sure and that is why I didn't have Romero to get him yet."  "Yes, just for the night. But if we do anything after. I want him to be dropped off and he is not to know.  I really don't want any problems tonight.  "Ms. Jane. You can trust Dawson. If you want  he can ride up front with me. I will personally make sure he behaves while in the limo. " 
" Thank you but I can deal with him." Romero drives to get Maur next. I get out of the limo to get her. "MAUR SMILES AT ME AND I KISS HER ON THE LIPS.  LET THE GAMES OR THE NIGHT START RIGHT." I AM  TURNING RED AND I KNOW IT. " THANK YOU ANTONIO." ANTONIO GRABS MY HAND AND WE WALK TO THE LIMO.  JANE SMILES AT ME. The driver puts his hand out for me to take it and I get in than Antonio. We drive next to pick up Cindy.  I get out of the limo and knock on Cindy's door. "You look very nice Cindy."  "Thank you and so do you." We walk to the limo and Romero puts his hand for Cindy to take it. I go around. Romero closes the door. We both go to the other door and he opens it for me. He puts his hand out for me. " Dude really."  "YOU GUYS TOLD ME TREAT ALL EQUAL SO I DO. DAWSON I DO GET LOOKS WHEN I DO IT."
"Romero for this you only help women, young children, teenager girls and for both genders elderly." I  laugh and get in the limo. We drive to Kevin's.  I call him.  " Dawson do you mind if I go knock on his door to surprise him?"  "Go for it."  Jane says,  " you know our driver.  I see."
"Yes, Kevin and I took and interest in him.  He changed his life. When he heard Kevin moved to Boston he came here and he stayed with him until he graduated and got this job several years ago. You can say he's one of our successes of our job."  Kevin hugs me. " Oh snap look at you boy.  Well not a boy anymore but a young man."  "Thanks, but we need to get going to arrive on time. I still have more stop for some dude Harry, but he's riding up front with me."  Romero opens the door and puts his hand out for me. " Romero get real." We all laugh at him. We arrive at Harry's.  "MS. JANE I GOT THIS." Romero gets out and Knocks at the door.  "I am here to pick up a Harry Peters."   Harry and I are walking to the limo. I open the front for him to sit. Harry looks at me odd. " Sorry sir, but I spilled and one area is still wet. I cannot have  you getting your clothes wet. I didn't have time to get another limousine.  Please sit in front." Harry sits in front.  The privacy screen was up. " Dawson he did well with quick response and Harry didn't throw a fit." Jane looks at Maur and Kevin.  " Sorry Cindy, Kevin can update you later."  "NO need, i got the gist of it. Its all good. " WE have a toast in the back. Kevin says, for us to fly and handle our business. " Romero is keeping Harry entertained. We can hear them but they cannot hear us with the privacy screen up. Romero had switched the intercom system that way.  " Harry who is your date tonight?"
"Jane Rizzoli. "  " You are one lucky man. I sure hope you treat well. All ladies need to be treated well. I wouldn't want to find out anything different. If not, there could be problems later." We all look at one another in the back seat. Romero just threatened him in a nice manner. Atwater says, "well he still has it in him but did it well."
