19. Jazz concert night maybe

I woke up rested and drove to Jane's for our morning run. "So have you decided yet if you are going to go out with him or not? He seems to be a nice guy. I don't see Cindy setting you up with a jerk. If you ever want to look for a home, you know who to call, wink wink."  I just shook my head and we continued to run for five miles than headed back to my condo to get cleaned up and ready for work.

Antonio and I were up bright and early and sitting inside the court room by 8:20. This judge is known for being on time and doesn't like it when anyone is late.

I know Kevin was nervous about his testimony because the system was going against anyone Black who testified and it was a well known fact. No one like this, but law enforcement had their hands ties. Several of us officers and I  was one were working behind the scenes with groups to get this judge fired.
"DETECTIVE ATWATER DO YOU SWEAR TO TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH?"  "YES."  " PLEASE TELL US WHAT YOU SAW THE NIGHT IN QUESTION."  "I  saw James Hill on the roof top trying to get rid of evidence via the drain pipe to his fellow partner which we later proved were in the cement business. Our medical examiner and the lab technicians informed us what gender and blood disorder we were looking for as well as whom.  As soon as this evidence was relayed to it, myself and Detective Dawson put the request of an search warrant.  I found the substance that was found in the deceased. Detective Dawson and myself notified our LT. CAVANAUGH OF OUR FINDINGS.  Myself and several other officers went to James Hill last known address of his wife. He heard us and ran up the fire escape. He was unsuccessful of placing the main ingredient that was highly toxic if touched out of the metal canister would kill you."
The defense tried to trip me up several times during my testimony but it didn't. 
Dawson was up next and reiterated basically the same all but one area. " I  saw James Miller trying to light the canister.  I was able to knock the lighter out of his hand and we wrestled and eventually we were able to safely handcuff him and other officers arrested his accomplice downstairs."  The jurors found him guilty with OUR testimony and the evidence that Dr. Isles and Susie Chang found on and in the body. We left the courthouse.  Atwater says, " if I wasn't black, the defense attorney wouldn't of called us in. He should of called Maura and Susie too.  There findings is what solved the case for us. I am tired of being questioned because of my race."  "Bro I know I am not Black, but alot of places I go with Maur they look at me funny too. Even in today's day. Nothing will change unless everyone can get rid of racism. We jusr have to pray we go home safely every night." 
I called Jay and told him I would meet him at the venue by 6:00 which gave us and hour and a half to get inside to our seats. " Jane I am looking forward to this evening with you. I will  see you there bye for now."  I left work early to change and wear other clothes than pants all the time.

I was moved by her performance. Jay asked, "me why two of identical shirts?"  I bought two cds one for myself and the other for Maur as well as two concert shirts.  " Maur and I have been doing this for years. I have wore some embarrassing shirts over the years she has brought me back.  I at least thought they were embarrassing because I am not into Ballet and the opera."  " Good to know never to ask you to either than" and he smiled.  " Sorry couldn't pass that up.  I am not one for the ballet nor opera either.  I fall asleep if a date wants to go. There usually not a second date after that." We both chuckled.  My stomach started to growl. "Jane sorry we didn't get anything to eat before hand but at times my schedule doesn't  allow me to eat until late at night.  What type of food would you like to go to?"  " Don't laugh, but what a about a beer, chili cheese fries and philly cheese steak sandwich."  He nods and he says he knows the perfect place.  I follow him to Jimmy's Place. They actually know me by heart.  We walk in. "Wow my two favorite customers that have paid for my child's junior high tuition.  Hello Jay and Jane. I will have your usual orders up in a few." We both laughed. We actually come to the same place.  Our food came and we both devoured our food.
We said our goodbyes.  It was already after midnight.
