33. Seni seviyorum

Melikşah's POV

"The first time I came to the palace, you were about to slit off my neck, but
you didn't. You trusted me.
Later, I stood as a betrayer in front of you, you broke bonds with me. 'Bağımız kopmuştur Elçin hatun!' I stood against my people, brought the traitor to the palace and you-you asked me to stay. Why? You could've let me go."

Her voice cracked as she spoke and I heard silently staring into her eyes.

"I was habituated to live alone, didn't need the loving presence of anyone in my life. But you- you made me weak. This Elçin who had learnt to fight with everything, was always weak in front of you."

She sighed, got rid of my hold and began to leave. I held her arm again and meanwhile her turban dropped.

I told,
"Elçin, devam et."

She stayed silent for a few seconds then spoke,

"You had sent me back to Anatolia to accomplish my duty. Everything should've ended there, but you came again, you married me. Neden?
W-when Ebul Qasim asked my hand in marriage, you asked me that who lies in my heart, you asked the same after our marriage."

My heartbeat stopped for a second as she told this.

"It was my fault to 've given my heart to a man whose heart belonged to someone else, my fault to 've loved the man whose crown was someone else. I thought it shouldn't matter to me, but no. It matters! The other day, when you told that the sultan was incomplete without the warrior and  today, you asked me if I'd be your bride again, I couldn't believe. You blossomed the flowers that were dead in my heart." She sobbed

All that I could utter was,
"Ben..?"

She hugged me and cried,
"Allah is a witness. All I did was love you but never tried to seperate you from your loved ones."

"What a fool I was. I could never see that. I thought- actually I don't know what did I think. Perhaps I never gave an importance to your feelings earlier. Lately, everything began to develop for me."

She held my hand and kissed on it. The rain grew even more heavy.

"S-seni seviyorum sultanım..."
Her voice had almost lost it's pitch.
Despite the rainfall, I could see her eyes pooled with tears.

I drew her closer and told,
"Perhaps our lord wants it. He wants us to be together. Melikşah and Elçin are meant to be together. The flowers of your heart didn't die. Maybe they didn't bloom for a little while.
Ben de seni çok seviyorum, Elçin."

I brought her face closer to mine and placing both my palms over her wet cheeks, we kissed passionately under the open sky, unnoticing the heavy waterfall that poured down on us.
