Zayn's POV

I drive as fast as I can. When I park, I take out my keys and close the door, locking it. I don't have time to converse with the man at the desk, I always don't. I make my way into the elevator and press the button before the doors close and it begins to rise.

I tap my feet while I wait and check the time. 8:30 pm. Alex is probably asleep by now but who knows how Faith is going to react when I tell her what I want to talk about. I didn't want Alex to see us this way. Not again.

The doors open and I step out, making my way to Faith's door. I knock lightly in case Alex is asleep but when I turn the knob, it's unlocked. I step inside the apartment and close the door quietly behind me. All I can hear is a murmur from the tv and the rest is dark and quiet.

Faith's voice is what I hear. But when I don't see her mouth move, I realize that it's coming from the tv. She sits on the couch with the remote in hand and she's concentrating on the screen in front of her. Her hair is in a ponytail and she's wearing a white shirt and sweatpants. I remember way back when when I'd see her like this. I've missed seeing her like this.

"Come on, Alex, say it."

My head turns to the tv, the attention I'm giving Faith goes to the tv. It takes me a second to realize that this is a home video. I watch curiously.

Faith, a Faith from before is standing next to a crib where a blue clothed baby is laying on. He's around a year old and he's grinning at her. I recognize him to be Alex. He wears a blue hoodie on his head and tears begin to water in my eyes. This is the baby I never got to hold, see, or connect with. This was the baby that I lost the minute I walked into my cell.

"Say the word, Alex. Say it." Faith continues to tell him. Her grin can be seen from the side of her face as her hands hold on to his to keep him standing up. She turns to the camera and smiles a smile I haven't seen in a long time. She giggles, laughing at something that the person holding the camera told her. It was too quiet for me to hear.

"Do you think he's going to say it?" I soon figure out that the person holding the camera is Harry. A wave of jealousy takes over me. He experienced something that I should have experienced. I should have been there every step of the way. I should have been witnessing my child's actions with Faith. That should've been me.

Faith nods, grinning. "Yeah. He won't let me down. Will you, Alex?" She looks at the baby who is sucking on his hand. She laughs and removes his hand only for him to move it back to his mouth. Harry chuckles behind the camera while Faith shakes her head but continues to grin. "Come on, Alex say the word. Say daddy."

Daddy.

That was the word she wanted him to say. Out of all the other words she could have chosen for him to say first, she chose the word of the person who should have been there. Instead of her telling him to say mommy or mom, she chose my name. A tear falls down my cheek before I even realize.

The black haired baby squeals when she rubs her nose against his neck, making him giggle. She laughs when he tries to pull back and kisses his cheek before she removes her face from his neck. "Come on, baby. Say daddy."

"D... Da.." He murmurs, but it doesn't quite work out. He looks down at his hand holding on to his crib and looks back up with a beautiful sparkle in his eyes. "Da... Daddy."

The camera begins to move because of Harry. His hand is lifted up and he's cheering. Faith jumps up and down, happy that she got him to finally speak. She grins before she grabs Alex and holds him in her arms, swinging him around from all the excitement but being careful about it.
