Zayn's POV
Alex and I walked hand in hand on the sidewalk and I couldn't be any happier.
I was actually getting to know my son and start a relationship with him, my son.
I will admit I was jealous that Faith gave all her attention to him and that he was her first priority but now I couldn't help but completely agree with her.
He was everything we could have hoped for. Apart from his traits he got from his mum, he had my looks and did show emotional traits of mine. Each time I looked at him he reminded me of a small and more precious version of me. Now I know why Faith had the urge to protect him, he was our angel.
I couldn't imagine my life without him anymore.
I still held his little hand in mine, his hold strong on me. We walked until we stopped next to an ice cream shop and he begged me for some. I was so caught up on him that I couldn't ignore his pout he was giving me and I bought him some ice cream.
It was like it was Christmas except that instead of getting gifts, he got ice cream instead and he was still happy about it.
As he talked about superheroes and told me all about them, I took in every detail of him as much as I could before I'd have to share him with Faith again.
It's not like I didn't want to share, I just wanted to have him all to myself for a bit longer, I wanted to get to know him more and find out new things about him that would make me love him even more than I already did.
I stared at him as we left the ice cream shop. His smile was so small yet it could brighten up anyone's day. His cheeks were as chubby as his mum's but you couldn't help but think how adorable he looked. His personality was what I loved most, he was smart yet he still acted his age and he was so genuine and kind.
I needed Alex, I had to have him forever.
"Daddy are you listening?"
My eyes traveled back to my little boy who waited for my answer. He had already finished his ice cream and was now licking his lips that were still covered in chocolate.
How could I have possibly created such a beautiful human being who I get to call my son? The only answer was who I made him with. Faith. This was all her, there was no way he got his innocence from me.
"Dad are you listening to me?" The little boy placed one hand on his shoulder. I would tease him for making such a feminine move but I decided against it, not wanting to bother my happy boy.
"I am." I smiled down at him.
"Good." He said, and continued telling me about his dream where he and Spider-Man saved the world against giant spiders.
I laughed throughout the whole story, because it was funny, and because I felt like I had gained a giant part of me that now belonged to my Alex.
----
"Mummy!"
Alex jumped into Faith's arms as soon as we entered the apartment and she appeared as she had just arrived back from school.
"How was your day, baby?" She grinned at him and quickly took him in her arms before he jumped in them. I could tell that she needed him as much as I did.
"It was so much fun! We went out for ice cream and daddy took me to the park!" He said in his squeaky little voice that I loved.
"Daddy, huh?" Faith's eyes landed on me for the first time since we've gotten here.
"Yeah, daddy." Alex said and she faced him again before smiling at him.
"Why don't you get ready for some lunch, baby? Go wash your hands."
"Okay!" He said before she placed him back on the floor and gave him a kiss on the cheek and then he left to the bathroom to do as she said.
I will never get over how obedient he is. If Faith ever told me that like she had before when we'd eat together, I'd laugh and say I had the cleanest hands in the world, earning a roll of eyes from her.
"Are you hungry?" Faith's voice cut me off from our memories when we had just hung around at each other's homes, mostly mine since her parents were being assholes.
Now that I think about it, do her parents know about Alex? Or have the not been in contact with her ever since she left?
"Yeah, um.."
"Yes?" She quirked an eyebrow at me when she began setting lunch for us in the kitchen and I followed.
"I don't mean to get all up in your business but.." Yes I do. "Have you been speaking to your parents ever since..?"
She didn't seem to be taken aback from the question and replied without a care.
"I have, they know about Alex. Almost everyone we knew knew about him and my pregnancy but they never did anything about it. They didn't seem to care about him either and I didn't need them to, all I cared about was how Alex was doing and throughout my whole pregnancy I kept my thoughts on him and only him."
I nodded, knowing exactly what she meant. Without Alex here, (a thought I couldn't bear to think about), I don't know where Faith and I would be.
Would I even be here? Or would I get kicked out as soon as I stepped back in her life?
I didn't care though, without Alex there was nothing, life was nothing without him here.
"So you never ran into them?" My curiosity took ahold of me.
"Yeah." She nodded as she started cooking spaghetti on the stove. "I ran into them once at the store but all I got was a 'Hi, how you doing? Oh you're pregnant just like everyone said? Oh okay, have a nice life, bye.'"
She shrugged. "It was nothing to be honest, I knew what everyone thought. A poor innocent girl who got caught up with the 'wrong guy,'" she air quoted. "And now she's knocked up but deserves it and he won't come back to her once he's out.. Yada, yada, yada.."
My fists clenched beside me and my blood boiled.. How dare they speak of her that way? She wasn't even close to how most girls were now.. They'd be hooking up with random strangers every chance they got for their needs and end up pregnant more than four times.
Faith wasn't a slut.
She was innocent.
"Like I said I didn't care," she continued. "All that mattered to me was Alex and how I was going to raise him."
"You've done an amazing job." I told her.
She smiled, something that I wanted to see more often yet I will only get on rare occasions. "Thank you."
----
"So I was thinking.."
Faith and Alex both looked up from their bowls of spaghetti and stared at me curiously for what I was going to say. I was so close to laughing at their similar expressions but decided against it.
"How about I take you both out to the aquarium?"
"Yes!" Alex yelled and jumped in his chair. "Please!"
I laughed, there was never a time where he didn't make me smile.
"Uh.."
"Please mummy, please!" He begged Faith as she looked unsure.
Faith sighed, not close to denying our boy's begs. "Fine."
"Yes!"
"Go get your stuff ready."
He nodded and climbed off his little chair before running to his room in a hurry.
Faith smiled before turning back to me and kept that smile on her face, and fuck, what a sight that was.
