Faith's POV
Light brushes were felt against the skin of my arm. I squirm in response, earning a raspy laugh before I'm taken in skinny tattooed arms. "You almost ruined my painting," I retort.
The raspy laugh continues. "Sorry, babe."
I roll my eyes as a kiss is planted on my temple. Warm breath is felt before I hear him speak. "Is that supposed to be us or a family of monkeys?" He laughs when I shove my elbow against his chest. "Joking, babe, joking."
"Shut up," I tell him, sighing as I finish the painting of Zayn, Alex, and I. We were given the assignment to paint something artsy. Mine wasn't as good as everyone else's. My definition of artsy consisted of a family at the park. I tried to not let it get to me when I saw my other class mate's paintings. I sucked. "I know I'm not even close to as good as you, you don't have to remind me." I mumble.
"You're good, baby. I was only joking, don't take it so seriously," He says comfortingly. "I like the choice of green for the trees. And you portrayed Alex's height perfectly." He mentions. The figures stood in the middle of the park. Like I said, I wasn't as creative as Zayn.
I sigh, still not as okay about my painting but his words did help a little. "Can I see yours?" When he nods, I follow him to his finished painting and gasp. "Holy shit, how did you-?"
"Just got it right, I guess." He shrugs.
"Bullshit."
Zayn had painted something very creative and amazing. The amount of talent that he had was unbelievable and astonishing. On the paper was Zayn, Alex, and I as a Batman themed family. We had capes, the bat logo, and masks. It was a cartoon version of ourselves and it was the best drawing in this room.
"Do you like it?"
"Holy shit, yes," I say. "Where did the Batman idea come from? Don't you remember that Alex is obsessed with Spider-Man?"
"I'm trying to make him see how cool Batman is, alright? He has a cape, that's cool. Spider-Man doesn't have a cape. That's not cool." Zayn explains, acting like a five year old. I knew Zayn adored Batman since he was small, but it was hilarious seeing him struggle with Alex's choice of favorite super hero. After all the nagging and explaining, Alex's choice remained the same and Zayn continued to feel defeated. Yet he wouldn't give up.
I smirk, watching Zayn go over his painting and making sure that it looks presentable for Alex. The way Zayn was acting about this super hero situation was hilarious and nonetheless, adorable. "You know he won't change his mind. Spider-Man is his pride and soul."
"Wouldn't bet on that when he sees this." Zayn rebuttals, causing for me to roll my eyes. Boys and their damn obsessions with super heroes.
**
"Where are we going, mum? Where's daddy?"
Alex's hand is in mine as we walk out of his daycare center. He wears a Spider-Man shirt and black shorts along with expensive sneaker shoes Zayn bought for him. The shoes cost Zayn over $200 but he wouldn't take my word in having them returned. The shoes were cool but they were too expensive. Zayn didn't care and went ahead and bought them. He said he didn't mind spoiling Alex and wanted him to have the shoes. As soon as Alex saw them, the look on his face proved my words wrong. He loved them.
"We're going to Daddy's work." I explain as I open the door to Zayn's mustang and buckle Alex in his car seat. Alex doesn't fight me when I put him in his seat. Most children I've seen struggle with their parents and end up crying during the whole car ride due to feeling restricted. Luckily I never had that issue with Alex. He knew that it was for his safety and accepted it. "He couldn't come to pick you up with me so we're going to his work to bring him lunch. Is that okay with you?"
