The heat pounded against the world like the sun was training for an MMA match with the world as its dummy bag. At least, in this corner of that world, the heat was wretched. Most people abandoned the infertile wastelands when the heat started to burn their skin and drown them in sweat. One person, however, trudged through the heat as if it hadn't affected him at all. It didn't. As a fire elemental, heat was the least of his problems. The boredom was doing far more damage.

SapNap covered his eyes with his hand, the shadow casting across his entire face. In the distance, the sands of the cracked earth blew away for SapNap to see the desolate building made from iron and cement. It was one story, and as long as three trailer houses sat side by side longways. The windows were covered in dirt and grime, making it impossible to see what was inside.

SapNap walked the perimeter of the building, looking for an easy way inside. The best he could find was a locked door with the hinges and door handle slightly rusted. SapNap kicked the door, and it fell open with a deafening crash. SapNap hissed at the sound, but stepped into the building despite everything.

Inside was much cooler. In fact, it was almost frosty compared to the outside heat. It was dark, dusty, with unlit torches attached to the walls. The room SapNap came across had broken chairs along the side with a desk covered in papers. SapNap looked across the papers to find a language he didn't understand. SapNap abandoned the papers since it wasn't his mission.

SapNap worked under Dream for a special military branch of the country Dream SMP, the capital country of the Server, the only populated continent. SapNap was given instructions to investigate a warehouse spotted in the L'Crater, the name for a region in Southern Server that had signs of once being inhabited but no longer was. Dream explained that theories pointed to the old country that stood here being more advanced than any other country. Dream believed that L'Crater was hiding good technology and weaponry. Since SapNap could bare the heat, he was the only man sent.

As SapNap traveled around the rooms, he didn't find anything 'advanced'. It seemed average to SapNap. It was impressive for a country that was around centuries ago, but SapNap couldn't find anything that the Dream SMP didn't already have. Chairs, desks, signs, furnaces, crafting tables. It was all the same. The journals and pictures on the walls seemed to hold answers, but SapNap saw it as wiggly lines.

"This was an absolute bust," SapNap frowned as he walked down the hallway. The last room at the end was marked by faded red paint with yellow signs across the upper half with black typing. While SapNap couldn't read the words, the symbol was the same for a gamma radiation warning. SapNap pushed the door open, surprised by how heavy it was.

SapNap was met with a blast of freezing cold air. He shivered subconsciously as he stepped inside. The door creaked as he shoved it open even more. This was where all the advanced items laid hidden. It was a large, rectangular room without any torches that SapNap could light. Chairs were lined up against the wall with desks in front, and a small gap was created where SapNap stood as the door was in the middle of the wall. When the tables stopped, there was a small drop off with two stairs where SapNap was. On the tables rested computers and monitors, all plugged into the wall. They were off. A light shone from a glass cylinder in leaning against the opposite wall.

In the glass cylinder, a tiny blonde toddler was hovering above the ground. A pale, cyan blue light washed over him from particles of odd symbols that danced around him like potion effects. His eyes were closed and his skin pale, but SapNap could see the steady rise and fall of his chest. For the first time, SapNap knew what the symbols meant.

This was a Time Loop Prison, a very, very ancient mage craft. It was meant to keep something trapped in a second for eternity, thereby preserving it for as long as necessary. It was told about in legends and history books alike. It was one of the few Mage crafts remembered to that day. All other forms had been lost and forgotten, leaving only magicians, inferior to mages in terms of power.
