When Tommy and Ranboo parted ways, Tommy actually felt a lot better. Not only had he gotten his longest kept secret off his chest to someone who understood, but Tommy felt some of that hatred fade away. Tommy had no reason to hate Ranboo. Tommy reasoned that whatever feelings he possessed in regards to the rest of the town was irrational. Tommy snuck back into his house (maybe, maybe he could call it a home) without a soul knowing he had left. Tommy put Phil's money back where it belonged, reassured in the thought that everything was fine. He didn't hate anyone. Tommy didn't have to hide his powers from, at least, one person who could help Tommy learn to control his powers better.
When Tommy woke up the next morning, Phil had already left for work and Techno had early morning MCC practice. Tommy was disappointed that he couldn't talk to Phil like Ranboo wanted him to, but riding to school with Wilbur made a lot of the disgusting emotions flee from Tommy's mental space. Any animosity left behind was dispelled by Wilbur's charisma and quick wit.
The day passed fine. Puffy called Tommy into her office to discuss his missing memories. Tommy was no closer on figuring out what happened in the half hour he blanked out for. When Tommy closed his eyes, he saw a man with shadowed eyes staring down at him. Tommy couldn't explain much about the person to Puffy, but she seemed to get what Tommy was trying to explain. Puffy let Tommy go back to class while she started to make phone calls.
Tommy felt a sense of camaraderie with Ranboo, so their friend group hit a high point. Tommy was already best friends with Tubbo, and he was Purpled's MCC partner, so this shared secret he had with Ranboo solidified his place in the group. Tommy wouldn't admit that he liked being anybody's friend, but his emotions didn't attend his brain's meeting that week.
When MCC practice came about at the end of the day, Tommy was surprised to see that Techno wasn't there. Tommy asked Dream to find out that Wilbur and Techno had gotten checked out for something. Tommy would have been upset if the training didn't start immediately. Tommy and Purpled sparred for the beginning of the class. They 2v2 against Ranboo and Tubbo, which they were able to win. Upon their victory, Dream challenged them to a 2v1 fight. Even though they should have had the upper hand, Dream beat them badly. It wasn't as bad as when Techno would destroy Tommy 1-on-1 at their house, but Tommy was red from shame whenever he was pinned by Dream's sword.
"Don't worry. You are getting better. You have to remember that I've done this my whole life, while you have started a month or two ago," Dream said as he lifted Tommy back onto his feet with a bright smile. Dream's toxic green eyes slid to the side to stare down at Purpled. "You have been doing this for fourteen years training underneath one of the best MCC players. Get good, Purp."
"Watch your back in parking lots from now on, Clay," Purpled said with a sneer. Tommy cheered his partner on with a boisterous laugh. Dream turned red in embarrassment at the mention of his birth name. When he had enough of Tommy's laughter, he tackled the boy to the ground. Purpled yelled something as he leapt onto Dream's back. Before Tommy knew it, the entire MCC team was piling on top of him and Dream. Apparently, Purpled had yelled 'dog pile on Dream!'. Tommy coughed out a harsh breath.
"Oi, bitch boy, looked what you did," Tommy wheezed as he tried pushing Dream off him- at least off his lungs. Dream tried rolling away, but that proved useless as now Dream was on half of Tommy's body while Sapnap crashed into Tommy's other half, elbow hitting straight into his ribs. Tommy kicked his knees up as his body's reflexes demanded that he curl up. This didn't have correct outcome because George made a disgruntled noise. "I will fart on all of you bitches! I'm not kidding!"
Whether the threat was true or not, the dog pile untangled all their limbs from each other. Tommy took a big gulp of air as he rubbed his rib wearily. On the bright side, Tommy didn't hear even a note of Mellohi. When Tommy was under distress and in pain, his powers seemed to wait for him to mark the event as dangerous enough for atom dispersal to activate. Tommy counted that as a win in his head.
When it was time to go home, Tommy had on his backpack with his duffel bag filled with his MCC gear. Tommy walked home with Purpled, Ranboo, and Tubbo. They were joking the entire way to the Purpled's house. When they dropped the hoodie teenager off at his house, they started walking towards Tommy's house. As they approached, Tommy noticed a black car parked on the curb.
When Tommy looked up at the house, he could see Phil standing on the front porch stairs. Wilbur was pouting with angry eyes in on the chairs while Techno had his back to the street, leaning against a beam. A woman stepped out of the car as Tommy approached. He heard Ranboo whisper something as the him and Tubbo stopped walking. Tommy looked at everyone confused.
"Theseus Innit? Hello, my name is Caroline. I'm your social worker. I was called because-" The woman said as she came closer. Tommy didn't look at her. He didn't care what she looked like. He kept his eyes pinned on Phil to see what his reaction was. It remained empty... neutral... unbothered... uncaring.
"I don't need to here this excuse. It means jackshit to me. I thought you cared about me! Puffy promised that this would be a good place. Wilbur, you told me I could fucking trust you!" Tommy yelled at them with angry tears burning in his eyes. Tommy heard Mellohi simmer behind his forehead. Tommy turned his eyes to Wilbur's vehicle. Tommy lifted his hand to the front tire. In a matter of seconds, it popped with a loud wheeze of air. Tommy flecked his hand over to blow the handle off the driver's side door. As one final act of revenge, Tommy balled his fingers into a fist. The glass windows imploded into the car. Tommy watched with sick satisfaction at destroying something that Wilbur valued.
Tommy threw his duffel bag on the ground. Tommy placed out both his hands to focus. He dispersed the air around the bag in order to make it airborne. Once Tommy had a good height, he made on aerial explosion against the side that shot the duffel bag forwards. It slammed against the beam Techno was leaning against the a heavy thud. "I don't want your hand-me-down shit. Take it all back."
Tommy wasn't sure what he could do to make Phil upset. Despite what was happening, it didn't sit right with Tommy to hurt the man. Phil may have been a traitor, but he wasn't always one. Tommy had good memories in his head that he couldn't let go of, no matter how loud Mellohi played. Tommy supposed he could hurt Phil mentally.
"I hope everyone in this forsaken town learns that you're a liar. And you are the cruelest man I have ever met, Mr. Minecraft," Tommy said through gritted teeth as he slammed the door shut to the woman's car after getting in. Tommy had fought it off long enough. As soon as the targets of his anger became inaccessible, Tommy allowed his mind to fade away. His body remained, listening to Mellohi. By the time Tommy returned to reality, he was far away from L'Manberg.
"Luckily, we have a man who is willing to adopt you until you graduate. Please, Tommy, try to lay low until then," Caroline asked with a soft release of breath. She had been talking the entire time, but Tommy hadn't been paying attention until these words. Caroline cut a smile over to him. "His name is Xavier Dalca. I think he goes by XD, though."
