You're with Clementine in the facility's kitchen. Emma has no clue.

Clem: How is it going?

You: I think it's going well.

She's sitting across the room, waiting for you to finish cooking her something. It's a little game you're playing. Can Y/N cook something without messing it up too badly?

Clem: Remember to flip it.

You: Yeah, I got it.

Clem: And don't let it burn.

You: Yep.

Clem: And don't turn the heat up too high.

You turn it down a few notches.

You: Not a problem.

Clem: I saw that.

You: No, you didn't.

She's getting worse, but today, she's been having a good day, from what you can tell. It gives you hope that maybe she'll get better.

Clem: What did you do again?

You: Nothing, don't worry about it.

That happens all the time. Her brain will just throw out everything she just took in. You're used to it now, and it's far better than her freaking out and forgetting literally everything.

Clem: Do you need help?

You: Nah, I got this. Actually, I'm almost done.

You hear her get up behind you.

You: Aaaaand done!

You turn around to show her your creation. She's leaning on the table to keep herself up straight. She smiles like nothing is wrong, her entire body shaking, and then she falls to the floor.

You drop everything and run over.

You: Clementine.

You roll her over to the side a bit, gently talking to her.

You: Are you ok?

She groans and nothing more.

You: Clem, I need you to answer me.

She doesn't respond.

-

Brooklyn: Hey.

She's arrived. She rubs your back, up and down, sending chills throughout your body.

Brooklyn: How are you doing?

You're sitting in the courtyard. The air is cold, but you don't care. The sting takes your mind off things at least a little bit.

You: Awful.

Your head is in your hands.

Brooklyn sits down next to you and doesn't say anything for a while. She knows being next to you is enough.

Brooklyn: Em let me see her when I got here.

You decide you should look up. Let her see you. It takes your eyes a minute to adjust because you've sat so long in the darkness of your palms.

Brooklyn: She's still unconscious.

You nod.

Brooklyn: Em said she's probably not going to be walking anymore.

You: That's what I was afraid of.

Brooklyn: She also asked me to let you know that-

You: I already know. You don't have to say it. She doesn't have long.
