Alice: So...

You: You don't need to make small talk.

You put your fist through a Walker's head as it lunges at you.

Alice: Well, it's awkward if we just walk.

You: It's fine, really.

Alice sighs.

Alice: So you're... Marina's Dad?

You: Uh-huh.

Alice: How does that work?

You: It's a long story you won't believe anyway.

Alice: Try me.

You: If you didn't believe I can pause time, you wouldn't believe me.

Alice: Fine, don't tell me.

You: Just keep your eyes peeled.

You step in front of her in the path of a Walker beelining for her. You crush its head in your hand.

Alice: People thought you were hooking up with her when you got here.

You: I know.

Alice: The rumor spread like wildfire.

You: I'm sure.

Alice: She's never been with anyone, so everyone was freaking out.

You: Right.

Alice: You know Kenji?

You: Mhm.

Alice: Dude was so jealous. Hated your guts.

She chuckles.

You: And you?

Alice: What about me?

You: What did you think?

Alice: I wasn't sure. I saw your whole scene together and thought it was weird, but I didn't know what it was about.

You: But what did you think?

Alice: I just told you.

You laugh.

Alice: What?

You: You're not slick.

Alice: I don't know what you're talking about.

She turns her head away from you. Probably trying to hide any expressions she makes or rosy cheeks. She knows exactly what you're talking about.

You: She's my daughter, you know. I keep my eye on everyone she interacts with.

Alice: So?

You: Kenji. The kid was an idiot and made it obvious to everyone. You're better at it.

Alice: Again, I don't know what you're talking about.

You: Don't you?

You bump her arm. She doesn't respond with anything.

You: Fine. I guess I'm just crazy.

You wave your hand around in a circle and then backhand a Walker running at your side. One hit is all it takes.

Alice: She's not interested in that kind of stuff anyway.

You: I got that vibe.

Alice: So, it doesn't matter.

You: Sure it does.

Alice: She'll never feel the same way.

You: That's ok. Just be her friend.
