Did you?

Brooklyn: Y/N, I don't know if I can do this.

You: You have to now.

Brooklyn: I could leave, and you could handle it.

You: You know that's not how this works. You have to talk to her.

You kick your feet up on the coffee table.

You: Just like when Clementine wakes up, I'm going to have to have a talk with her.

Brooklyn: What do we talk about again?

You: You're overthinking it.

Brooklyn: Just so I don't forget.

You: Huu... Your memories of us, and what happened last night and this morning.

Brooklyn: Can we leave that out?

You: Nope.

Brooklyn: Why?

You: Emma probably said something, and you can't hide it from her.

Brooklyn: What if it ruins our relationship?

You: Then you'll have to move on.

Brooklyn: I don't know what I want, though, Y/N.

You: I know.

She squeezes your hand. Maybe to comfort herself a little.

Brooklyn: Can we talk about something else before she gets here?

You: Yeah.

There are a few seconds of silence after your response.

Brooklyn: So?

You: What?

Brooklyn: What are we talking about?

You: It was your idea.

Brooklyn: So you come up with something to talk about.

You: What do you think this president shit is about? All I know is that we're going over there to kill some people.

Brooklyn: That's all I know. Maybe we're fighting some super terrorists. Or maybe some supervillains.

You: Or political targets for some stupid war or some shit.

Brooklyn: Eh, supervillains are better.

You: I don't like the idea of being used like this, but if I get to see Marina again.

Brooklyn: What about Clem?

You: I was thinking about that. She only said, Marina. They may not let me in while Clementine is still in there.

Brooklyn: That would make sense. You'd interfere with their testing.

You: Yeah.

Brooklyn: Maybe she'll wake up soon. Emma seems to think she's not in the best shape.

You: And I told her not to tell me about what's going on in there, but she still tries to.

Brooklyn: I can go check on her for you and then tell you if it's bad or not.

You: No, it's fine. If it's bad, she'll just wake up soon.

Brooklyn: But what if it has more to do with her actual health. We were pretty bad when we woke up, and she's been in quite a bit longer than us.

You: Don't say that.

Brooklyn: It's true.

You: Why have we gone from talking about something that's bothering you to something that's bothering me?
