I squeezed my eyes tightly shut and resisted waking up with all I had. But the feather-light kisses along my neck only increased. I groaned and tried to push Kyle away from me with weak hands.

"Wake up, birthday girl." He whispered in my ear, wrapping his arms tightly around me.

"No... I don't wanna. So tired." I mumbled.

"Come on, beautiful. The sun is shining and your presents are waiting." he continued to whisper.

"Let me sleep. You've worn me out." I replied with my eyes still closed and in a scratchy morning voice.

"Well, I didn't hear you complaining." he smirked and now began to nibble on my ear.

"Have you ever tried to resist you?" I asked quietly, determined to fall back asleep. However, Kyle wasn't having it.

"Come on already, baby. Don't make me get the secret weapons." he threatened.

"You're bluffing..." I murmured. When I got no answer, I sighed contentedly and snuggled deeper into the pillow. But it didn't even took a minute for me to feel someone, or rather two someone's, starting to lick my face.

"Oh my god. No!" I whined, trying to cover my face to keep Molly and Hank from licking me further.

"You're so mean, babe." I complained as I finally sat up.

"You had a fair chance to get up. Happy birthday, beautiful." replied Kyle as he leaned in and gave me a proper kiss.

"Mmmh...thanks, honey." said I.

"Okay, come on. I want to give you your presents." he said excitedly.

"I... told... you... I... didn't... want... any... gifts," I replied, poking his nose with each word.

"And... I... didn't... listen... to... you!" he said, pressing a kiss to my nose with each word.

I got out of bed, stretched and yawned. This was not how I had imagined the morning of my birthday, but oh well. I let Kyle pull me into the living room and had to laugh at his enthusiasm. These were moments when he acted like a big kid and they made me love him even more.

When my eyes fell on the coffee table, I shook my head in disbelief.

"My goodness Kyle, what did you do?" I asked looking at all the presents, flowers and a cake.

"What, it's the birthday. I want to spoil you. Sit down." he replied and the smile on his face got bigger when I didn't object this time.

"Don't look at me like that. Open them." he said, completely ignoring the lovey-dovey look I was giving him. Or maybe he noticed it and just didn't want to be distracted.

I picked up the first package and began to remove the wrapping paper. Immediately I had to laugh. He had bought me new grappling gloves, in my favorite color.

"These are for the advanced self-defense training. I noticed your other gloves aren't as good anymore," Kyle explained, then handed me the next gift to unwrap.

Self-defense was one thing I started learning after we got back together. We both felt that it couldn't hurt and that it would give me more confidence and safety. Besides, it was a lot of fun and Kyle was a great teacher. Even though he was easily distracted from time to time.

Besides the gloves, he had bought me two new books, a scented candle, my favorite perfume and chocolate.

"Thank you, babe. That's really thoughtful of you. I love my gifts. And I love you!" I thanked him before giving him a kiss.

"You're welcome, beautiful. But you forgot one," he said afterwards.

"I don't see any more on the table." I replied confused as I looked around.

"Here!" he said, pulling a small box out of his pocket. He placed it in my hand and opened it. Inside was a beautiful necklace with a small diamond pendant.

"Oh it's so beautiful. Kyle, this is too much. You really shouldn't spend so much money on me." I cried, wiping tears of joy from my eyes.

"Y/N, I love you. And I enjoy giving you gifts, especially on your birthday. So just shut up." he replied with a wink.

"I love you, baby. More and more every day." I said as I climbed onto his lap and then hugged him tightly followed by a passionate kiss.

"That's how I feel, too. And there's something I've been wanting to ask you." he then said.

"What do you want to ask me?" I encouraged him, my arms still wrapped tightly around his neck.

"Well it won't be long until we've been together a year and I wanted to ask you what you think about us moving in together?" Kyle asked and I saw the sparkle in his eyes.

"Well, actually, we've only been together again for six months." I teased him, but knew exactly what he would say then.

"I know, but for me the two months apart don't count. That was more of a nightmare than anything else. And before that, it was already four months. So by my count, it's almost a year. What do you say, do you want to live with me?" he explained to me.

I didn't even have to think about it. The answer was already clear to me the moment he used the words 'move in together'.

"Yes, Kyle I want to live with you, with you and your crazy dogs." I replied laughing and hugging him again.

"You mean our crazy dogs, baby." he winked at me.

"You know what that means, don't you?" I asked, but he just looked at me in a questioning way.

"We have to pack hundreds of books and find a place for them." I said with a grin. He just groaned.
