"Were the guys suspicious when you canceled your workout on such short notice?" I asked Kyle as we walked to the car together.
I had managed to get an appointment at the gynecologist for today. I was lucky that someone had canceled an appointment, otherwise I would have had to wait at least two more weeks. That would probably have driven me crazy. I just had to know if everything was okay with the baby.
Part of me still couldn't quite believe I was pregnant. For me it would only become real when I heard it from a doctor. I still didn't understand how it could happen so quickly, when every doctor I went to told me that it would be very difficult for me to get pregnant at all.
"A little bit. Well, it's very unusual for me to cancel training before the show, but I told them I have a doctor's appointment. That was about it. And it's not even a complete lie. I don't like to keep secrets from them, but at the moment I don't have a choice," he explained to me as he held the car door open for me and let me get in.
"I know. It's too early to say anything. Even though I know it's hard for you to keep it to yourself. Especially from Kelli and your dad." I said as we headed out.
"I'm just so incredibly happy. I really want to share our happiness with everyone," he replied, taking my hand in his and then pressing a kiss to the back of my hand.
"Soon, baby, soon. Let's find out how far along we are first. Who knows, maybe we can tell them at the wedding." I mused.
"Oh that's a good idea. Assuming I haven't exploded by then." He laughed and I joined in.
"You know, I'm glad that, for whatever reason, I instinctively chose a dress that will fit anyway," I said.
"So... Is it an airy, flowing dress?" he wanted to know.
"Nice try, mister. Wait and see, my love." I replied with a chuckle.
When we arrived at the doctor's office and checked in, it wasn't long before one of the nurses called me up and took me to an exam room. There she measured my blood pressure and took a blood sample before she sent me to the toilet to give a urine sample. In addition, I should dress there straight away into one of these awful robes.
When we were done with all the preparations, the doctor finally joined us. He started to examine me and ask me some questions until he finally asked me to lie down on the examination table and put my legs up.
"Okay, Miss L/N, since we don't know how far along you are yet, let's do a vaginal ultrasound first. It's a little uncomfortable, but it's the best way to catch a glimpse of the fetus." the doctor explained coolly before getting to work.
Kyle held my hand as we both looked mesmerized at the monitor, waiting for our baby to appear.
"Alright Miss L/N, this right here, this little blob, this is your baby. Judging by the size, I would say you are six weeks pregnant. I'm surprised the normal pregnancy test was able to detect a pregnancy this early." the doctor said, but I couldn't focus on that.
My eyes were fixed on the small blob on the monitor. It was really there. There it was, our little personal miracle. I turned my head and looked up at Kyle. Immediately I saw how overwhelmed and overly proud he was. I squeezed his hand to get his attention. He looked at me and I knew we were both thinking the same thing at that moment.
"You can get dressed again Miss L/N. After that, I'd like to go over a few things with you. I'll be right back." the doctor said and left the room.
"We really did make a baby..." whispered Kyle as he pulled me to his chest for a moment.
"I never thought this was possible, but I'm so glad it's real. I love you so much." I whispered back.
"I love you. I love you both." replied Kyle softly as his hands gently stroked my stomach.
I quickly changed back into my normal clothes. Then we sat down and waited for the doctor to return.
"Okay, Miss L/N, everything looks very good so far. But because of your previous diagnosis regarding the position of your uterus, there may be complications in the first trimester of pregnancy. So I highly recommend bed rest for you. Until at least the 12th week of pregnancy, but better yet until the 14th week of pregnancy. At the moment there is no reason to worry, but we do not want to take any risks.
When I read your file, it was surprising for me to learn that you got pregnant so quickly on a natural way despite your physical conditions. This is very unusual. Now it is very important that you take it easy during these first weeks. Give the fetus the best chance by resting.
Now, here I have printed out some ultrasound photos as well as a prescription for vitamins. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. I'll see you in four weeks. And congratulations to both of you," the doctor said before saying goodbye and leaving.
"Okay, baby. You heard the doctor. Let's get you and the little bean home and to bed." Kyle said to me as we strode down the hallway of the doctor's office hand in hand.
"Man, I can only hope that little one is going to be very cute. I already hate that I have to stay in bed for so long, but it's the best thing for our family." I said.
"You are getting a perfect little angel. And I'm here for you, to take care of you all the way from start to end, Y/N. And I think you can stay quite busy with the details for the wedding. After all, the timing works out pretty well with the end of your bed rest." Kyle assured me.
"That's true. I'm just wondering how we're going to explain to people why I'm stuck in bed for two months," I asked myself.
"I'm sure we'll figure something out. The most important thing is that you and the baby are okay. I can't tell you how incredibly excited and happy I am." replied Kyle, bouncing up and down slightly.
Smiling, I shook my head at his behavior. He is going to be a fantastic father and I was once again so happy to have him in my life. How different my life would be right now if I hadn't accompanied BF/N to this one show.
