In which you lay with him every now and then

"How ya doin', Steve?" I asked as I walked into Steve's bedroom unannounced. He and I have gotten closer since the blip, us only speaking before because of missions and then because of being on the run together. Now that we don't really have the looming threat of the government finding us and locking us up in an underwater prison built for psychos, we found ourselves speaking, not as coworkers but as friends.

He sat on his bed with his feet kicked up, a hefty book in his hands. He looked up at me with a small smile playing at his pink lips.

"I'm great, Y/n." he laid his book down on his bedside table and patted the spot next to him for me to come sit. I took his invitation, practically running to his side and engulfing myself in his blankets.

"Make yourself comfortable then." He laughed. I nuzzled against the side of his body, his body heat warming me from the 64° temperature.

"Cold?" He asked. His arm pulled me closer to him by my back.

"Not anymore, Cap." I smiled.

I truly didn't want anything but this. Laying next to Steve and having him talk me into a nap was a joy that I never knew I needed. I made it a weekly thing to come and bother Steve just to take a nap in his bed and wake up to him also asleep.

The first time, my intention was truly to check up on him. He invited me to his bed and we got to talking but it was right after a 48 hour mission and I had just showered so I planned on speaking to him and then heading to bed. What I didn't plan on was his voice being so soothing and his bed being so comfortable and his body being so warm next to me.

I fell asleep after only a few words exchanged and it was the best sleep I'd gotten in a while. After that I'd shamelessly come to his room just for a nap. He didn't seem to mind. He'd either read a book or a newspaper or just converse with me and curl up next to me, usually falling asleep himself after a while.

This day I came in and did my usual. I cuddled up next to the hero, my arm draped over his lap. It was soon after that I felt myself falling asleep to the soothing sound of his breathing.

I opened my eyes to almost complete darkness. The only light in the room was coming from the moon that peered through the uncovered window. It illuminated the room just enough for me to see Steve's face. The sun was going

We'd shifted in our sleep into a cuddling position where we both laid on our sides facing each other. His arms and legs laid on top of mine more than anything and he was slightly crushing me but I didn't mind it.

They way we were positioned, I had to look up at him to see him. I watched him sleep, as creepy as that sounds. I probably should have left and gone to my room but being in this position with him just felt right. I knew that if he'd simply opened his eyes, I'd get caught.

I just didn't care.

"Stop staring and go to sleep." He said through a lazy smirk, his eyes still closed. His voice scared me and I jumped, my heart exploding out of my chest.

He probably thinks I'm a creepy weirdo now. I knew I should've left but I just had to stare at the guy. How could I be so dumb?

"I'm sorry," I attempted to get up. "I'll go back to my room."

He pulled me back down and wrapped both arms around me. "Go to sleep, Y/n."

One of his arms started rubbing my back softly and I felt him relax against me. I was confused but I wasn't gonna complain. Captain America himself just basically told me shut the fuck up and lay down. Who wouldn't wanna be in this position?

After a while of waiting for him to kick me out, I settled against him and started willing myself to sleep.

"Finally." He spoke, earning a punch in the arm from me.
