In which you two meet after the events of NWH

It was yet another snowy day. I walked through the streets of New York with an urge for coffee. There was this donut shop with the absolute worst donuts but the best coffee on the planet just down the street from my apartment.

Just as I was nearing the place, I bumped into someone and their coffee flew out of their hand. Stunned at the scene unfolding in front of me, I merely gasped when the cup hit the ground.

"I'm so sorry," I muttered before taking a look at the person who I just made drop their coffee. In front of me stood an amazingly good looking guy. He looked like I just took the wind out of him. His expression changed from a frustrated one to a taken aback one when he saw my face.

"It's okay," he smiled.

He had a gorgeous smile accompanied with dark fluffy hair and extremely handsome features. Usually I'd walk away but something told me not to let him go. I couldn't think of anything else to say but I didn't want this conversation with this beautiful stranger to end, so I said the only thing I could think of.

"You like pie?" I asked. I mentally face palmed myself after asking such a random and dumb question like that. I let my nerves get the best of me and now he's gonna think I'm a weirdo. He looked confused for a second but then he smiled.

"I love pie. Especially cherry pie, my aunt makes.." he paused. "Made.. the best cherry pie I ever tasted."

I got the hint that his aunt wasn't necessarily a part of his life anymore. His smile left his face and his mood seemed to dim. Geez, I somehow found a way to fuck up and bring up something that made him sad. Why me?

"I know I'm a complete stranger," I proposed. "But how about we go get some cherry pie together?"

He looked through the window of the cafe and looked at the barista and customer conversing on the inside. I could see a certain sadness in his eyes and I didn't even know him but I wanted to take that sadness away. I was hoping he'd be crazy enough to say yes to this stranger.

"I'm down." He beamed after he looked back at me.

From there we went down to a bakery and shared an entire cherry pie. I learned more about him and his personality. He's a giant nerd, but I think it's the cutest thing about him. Luckily I'm also a big nerd so I don't mind.

He also opened up to me about his aunt. She'd died in an accident with one of those villains that the Avengers always seem to be fighting. I could relate. I lost my uncle to Loki and the Chitauri. Seeing just how much we had in common made me form an instant crush on him. It also doesn't help that he's absolutely gorgeous.

After our deep conversation about our parents' dead siblings, we just shared our interests more. It's amazing how much we have in common. We're both from Queens, we both have a knack for technology, we both love science, we both got rejected from MIT (sadly), and so much more. This kid is a male version of me.

"I just realized that we've spent like 3 hours together talking and we haven't even exchanged names." He laughed.

I joined in on the laughter, shocked that we both didn't realize that we didn't know each other's names. It's amazing how fast we got comfortable with each other even after not knowing each other's names.

"I'm Y/n." I gave him my hand to shake with an uncontrollable grin on my face.

"Peter," He shook it with an equally huge grin. "Beautiful name for a beautiful girl."

Redness crept up my cheeks at his compliment. "I was gonna say take me out to dinner first, but you topped dinner with pie."

"We can still catch dinner if you'd like," he smiled looking down at his hands. "I honestly don't want to stop talking to you."

Butterflies rushed through my stomach like an earthquake. "I'd love that. Where should we go?"

"How about Thai?"
