In which chemistry turns into chemistry 😉

I'd been sitting at my desk, waiting for the amazing Spiderman to finish saving whoever he's gotta save and get to my window in time for us to study for our chemistry final the next day. I'd been checking my phone consistently, trying to make sure that he hadn't texted me.

A part of me was worried about him, but the other knew what he was capable of and that he'd be fine. Peter and I had been friends since sophomore year. It was now junior year and we'd made it a habit to study together whenever we had tests coming up.

But of course, that came after him patrolling around the city, swinging from building to building, catching bad guys. After such a short time of us knowing each other, I couldn't believe that he'd actually told me his secret.

But now it illicited a huge amount of anxiety about his safety that I didn't have before. And it didn't help that I had a huge crush on him.

"Y/n!" I heard Peter's voice through the window before a light knock came to it. I smiled and unlocked it for him to climb into my bedroom.

"Hello, Spiderman." I greeted, helping him into my room and closing the window behind him.

"The day that my identity is outted, you're gonna be the first person I blame."

I shrugged and sat back down at my desk. Peter climbed straight onto my bed and laid on his back. I gave him a serious look which told him to sit up so we could study.

He pulled my other chair and sat beside, gesturing his hand for me to continue.

"Okay, I know you've been struggling with stoichiometry, so-" I looked at Peter who was oddly enough staring at me.

I felt my cheeks heat up and I just knew I was red as a tomato. The way Peter looked at me was always so intense. I sometimes couldn't focus unless I just didn't look at him at all.

"What?" I asked. He shook his head.

"Nothing." He said with a small smile.

"Anyway, I wrote out some problems that I think you might need the most help in. I want you to try them out and see where your struggle areas are."

I tried to hand him a pencil, but he didn't take it. It was like he was lost in a trance. His eyes finally landed on the pencil in confusion. He blinked a couple of times before his eyes met mine.

"Peter, are you paying attention?" I asked.

"Yeah, yeah," He fumbled over his words. "I'm listening, Y/n."

"What did I just say?" I asked.

"You said 'Peter, are you paying attention?'." I let out a breath and rolled my eyes.

"If you're not gonna take this seriously then you should go. I need to study and you can't be wasting my time."

"No," he shook his head. "I'm sorry, it's just hard for me to focus with you."

I looked at him confusedly. "With me?"

His eyes went wide. "Wait.. uh no. I mean- it's not hard to-to focus with you. I-its just kind of hard to focus because of you, if that makes sense. I mean-" He looked up at me. "Does it?"

"No." I answered. "Why wouldn't you be able to focus because me?"

He didn't say anything for a while. He looked around the room trying to muster up the words to say.

"Peter," I warned.

"Okay," he looked down. "It's, well, hard to focus around you because- because I can't stop staring at you."

He looked up at me before continuing. "And I can't stop staring at you because you're beautiful and I-"

He took a deep breath. "I like you."

Before I could say anything, he started rambling again.

"And, like, it's okay if you don't like me. I mean, if you do that's cool and all, but like don't feel like we can't be friends because I-I still wanna be friends... I don't know if you wanna be friends now-"

I covered his mouth which stopped him from speaking. I slowly lowered it, hoping he didn't say more.

"So," he looked at me with a tremendous amount of hope in his eyes.

"If you'd shut up for two seconds, you'll learn that I like you too, idiot."

He let out a breath that he'd been holding and smiled. "A-are you serious? You're not just saying that?"

"Peter, why would I lie about liking you?" I asked with a small giggle.

"I don't know," he stuck his hand out and pulled back his ring and middle finger which is the hand position he pulls to shoot his webs.

"You think I'd lie because you're Spiderman?" I asked, raising a brow.

"Well not when you say it like that."

I playfully rolled my eyes and kissed his cheek. It was cute, seeing him turn beet red from a simple cheek kiss. I was about to turn back to our work, when he grabbed my chin and turned my head toward him.

He didn't kiss me yet. He just looked at me in a way that I'd never seen him look at me. It sent butterflies rushing to my stomach. His gaze went from my eyes to my lips in a slow second, his hand never leaving my chin.

Finally, he leaned in and kissed me.
