In which your father figure and mentor isn't particularly fond of your choice in men
Bucky Barnes and I have been secretly dating for the past 6 months. We've managed to keep it a secret from everyone, but Steve and Nat who caught us making out in the training room.
Other than that, our secret has been well kept. I still can't believe we've made it this far as a secret, but we just wanted to make sure that things went well before telling others.
If we'd dated for only a short amount of time and everyone knew, it would've been awkward between all of us and we just didn't want that.
"I think it's about time we tell him," Bucky said, 'him' referring to Tony. We were in Bucky's bed talking over how we were to tell the others about our secret. Tony was the only person who I was genuinely scared of telling.
Tony was the closest thing I had to a father, considering my father was a absolute piece of shit. He took me in a few years ago, made me a suit, and trained me to be an Avenger.
Well, he actually just taught me self defense and was strongly against me being an Avenger because of the danger that comes with it, but I have my ways.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure he'd be pissed if he found out I was dating an a hundred year old ex assassin who killed his parents. That wouldn't exactly sit well with him.
"I'm scared, Buck," I told him. "What if he doesn't approve?"
"We'll make him approve, Y/n," he grabbed my chin. "We're gonna be together with or without his approval. He'll cave in eventually, but it'll just take time."
"I just want him to accept you."
"He will, babydoll." He landed a kiss to my forehead. "Don't worry."

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, hell no, and oh I almost forgot, no!" Tony exclaimed, his face turning a bright shade of red.
"Tony can you just give us a chance to reason with you?" Bucky said.
We were sitting in the living area of the Avenger's compound. We'd finally told Tony our secret, but he wasn't taking it well.
"No," he shook his head. "You can't reason with death."
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"It means, what happens when someone says those magic words and he turns back into the Autumn Warrior? Or whatever the hell it is! Or when he rolls over in his sleep and accidentally crushes you with that dumbbell on his arm?"
"Sir, that won't happen." Bucky spoke up. "Hydra doesn't have control over me anymore."
"You never know with these things," he shook his head. "Your track record tells me otherwise."
"You're really using his past against him?" I defended. "You of all people have NO RIGHT to judge someone off of their past! I'm sure you've killed more people with those mega weapons you used to make!"
I saw a flash of hurt and guilt cross his face before his expression changed to that of an angry one. I decided to keep talking, hoping to reason with him.
"You can't define someone by their past, Tony. Isn't that what being an Avenger is about? Nat was the famous Black Widow, Steve was a skinny sickly kid who couldn't even breathe right, you profited from war and death."
I looked at Bucky who couldn't even look up at us.
"He's a person just like you and me, and Nat, and Steve, and anyone who's ever done anything bad."
He looked at me with blatant hurt on his face. "It's different, Y/n."
"How?" I asked. He looked down and his next words were spoken in almost a whisper.
"I just don't want anything to happen to my daughter."
We both looked at each other, shocked at the words that just came out of his mouth. Daughter? Tony thinks of me as his daughter?
"Well as my father, you should want me to be happy with whoever makes me happy," I intertwined my hand with Bucky's. "That's Buck."
Tony looked at the two of us, his hand tapping on the table. I could tell this was a hard thing to come to terms with for him, but it was the only thing I really truly wanted from him. Finally he spoke up.
"If you hurt her, I'll have the kid turn on his instant kill mode."
That was all he said before he walked out of the room. I looked at Bucky wide eyed, happy that we actually got through to him.
Bucky smiled at me and leaned in for a kiss.
"No!" We heard from Tony and immediately jumped away from each other.
Bucky laughed and kissed my cheek. Our hands were still intertwined just as our hearts were.
"Do you think he'll let you sleep in my room from now on?" He asked.
"Not a chance," Tony answered for me in an unknown location.
"Why are you listening to us?!" I asked.
"I need to make sure my daughter doesn't get impregnated by the 1000 year old."
I rolled my eyes and pulled Bucky in for a kiss, ignoring Tony's protests.
"I love you." Bucky said.
"I love you too."
And of course Tony made a vomit noise.
