Chapter 17: More Answers?

F/Ns perspective

It was a few days after our mission and fighting against the Esdeath's assassins. Everyone had recovered back to their full strength, and now we're in the process of training. However, thoughts still lay heavy on the young force user after the talk with Black Marlin.

Bulat: "Come on, F/N! Faster!"

F/N: "Yeah, I know!"

I said as my muscles burned as the sound of rapid feet against the wooden deck caught my attention.

Mine: "Alright, who's-.... what's going on here?"

I looked up as sweat dripped from my forehead to see a fully recovered Mine staring at her friends. At the moment, Lubbock, Tatsumi, and I were doing push-ups. Leone, Akame, and Bulat were sitting cross-legged on our backs, respectively, as we worked out.

Leone: "Well, these three weren't getting anywhere with their training, so we decided to help out."

Tatsumi: "Yeah, I never realized till after I equipped Incursio how fast it burns through my stamina."

Bulat: "Which is why we have you train like this, plus it's good for you too, F/N, after that stunt you pulled."

His voice was slightly harsh as I kept doing push-ups. I, however, just grunted a bit as I did another rep and looked up at him.

F/N: "And as I said, I don't regret what I did, but you're right."

I said, the others growing quiet as I remembered the briefing a few days ago. How the boss had scolded me on what I did and that there would be a further conversation to follow. However, I was dragged away by these thoughts by Mine, who coughed.

F/N: "Oh, sorry, did you say something, Pinky?"

I said, looking up at Mine, who had a slight blush on her face, though she turned her gaze a bit when she spoke.

Mine: "I said that you need to be more careful next time. I don't want to come saving you next time."

F/N: "Well, I'll keep that in mind, but I don't think I would mind you saving me for once."

I said with a slight grin that got her blushing more as Leone let out a little laugh.

Leone: "Oh, that's adorable. You're blushing."

Mine: "S-shut it, Leone!"

Bulat: "Now now, let's not distract our trainees from their duty. Tatsumi and F/N are still neck and neck."

He said as Tatsumi, and I kept going at our push-ups, though it became clear who the winner was as I felt my scared arm start to give in a bit and just kept myself braced. Akame looked over and saw the slight pain in my expression and gestured for Bulat to get off.

Once I felt the weight lift off my back, I moved into a sitting position and flexed my fingers on that arm.

Tatsumi: "Hey, you ok F/N?"

He said as he and Lubbock got up from their spots.

F/N: "Yeah, old wounds.....

I said before shaking the arm off and getting to my feet. Akame walked over and gently looked my arm over, which I saw Mine glaring slightly at her for.

Akame: "You need to rest it for now. The scars may have formed, but it still needs to recover."

F/N: "If you say so."

I said, long since now to question her orders on my health. Though as she pulled away, Leone came from behind me and wrapped her arm around my neck.
