Chapter 16: Watery reunion

F/N's Perspective

We all stood in defensive stances towards the revealed member of the Three Beasts, Liver. Bulat was still in shock at seeing his old commanding officer again.

Bulat: "G-general?"

Liver: "I am no longer a general. Ever since master Esdeath saved me, I have served under her as her loyal servant."

He said and placed a hand on his chest. Though what only was a tense moment of silence followed as both men stared each other down. Though I could not see it, I could sense Bulat tense up a bit. He was spinning his halberd a bit, moving into an aggressive stance.

Bulat: "If things were different, we'd be drinking to our reunion. But since there not, I will have to kill you. The mission comes first."

Liver: "I couldn't say it better myself, general Esdeaths wishes will be realized."

He said and removed one of his white gloves from his hand, revealing a dragon-styled ring with a blue stone embedded into its carved forehead.

Liver: "And to ensure my victory, she gave me this Imperial arm!"

He said as the gem glows. All around us, water started to burst from barrels and shoot up into the air as a show of power.

Liver: "The Black Marlin. It's a ring type weapon crafted from the organs of aquatic danger beasts with the power to control water. As such, whoever wields it can control liquids at will. If this be our battlefield, then lady luck in on my side."

He said with a keep glare towards us. Tatsumi looked a bit worried as I changed stances a bit,  observing the pillars of water as Bulat spoke.

Bulat: "So you use water now, rather convenient your boss is an ice user."

Liver: "General Esdeath can create ice from thin air, do not elevate me to her level! She is a god! Water Barrage!"

He yelled out and thrust forth his hands, sending the pillars of water towards Bulat. As the streams were about to hit him, he quickly spun his halberd and deflected the water away like a shield. Taking my chance, I rushed towards Liver as Tatsumi ran to deal with the other member of the three beasts who had regained consensus.

Upon seeing my advance, Liver kept up his attack on Bulat while redirecting one of the pillars of water in my direction, forming it into a swarm of water 'bullets'. With eyes narrowed, I slid to a stop and, using my blade, began to block all of the water thrown my way.

Block after block. Steam began to form around me as I met each bullet of water with my lightsaber's plasma blade. It became clear to Liver of the ineffectiveness of his efforts as a smokescreen of sorts had formed around me.

Liver: "You're persistent, but you can't block this!"

He yelled out from beyond my hazy cover, but with my training, I could sense the pressure of the air change and roll out of the vapor cloud as a torrent of water slammed into where I once stood.

Getting back up and shaking myself off, I grinned at Liver as my distraction had provided enough time for Bulat to strike as he appeared from behind Liver's water barrage and thrust his halberd down towards the man's chest.

However, his attempt did not hit its mark as Liver jumped back, sending Bulat's halberd into the deck. Though Liver wasn't out of the clear yet as I rushed forward and assaulted him with a multitude of swings. The Three beast's member was very skilled and dodged all my attacks before using the water he had to slam into my unsuspecting chest.

The impact knocked the air out of my lungs as I was sent up into the air, I was able to land with a handspring and returning to stand next to Bulat. He looked over at me for a second as I gave him a simple nod that I was ok.
