F/N's perspective
I sighed as I laid back in my bed, my arm covered over my eyes. My mind was spinning as I thought about the fuck I had just done. I had the chance to take out the Minister, end all thi- no. No killing him would have only let another ride to power.....
Letting out a heavy exhale, I pulled my arm away and looked at the ceiling. I thought about the Jaegers; they had stopped by early to check on me, though all I gave was the recognition I was still here. I wasn't in my right mind. I was implosive, angry, and didn't want to hurt them. Not putting them in that position was the best thing to do. My mission still stood, despite my feelings; they didn't deserve my wrath, which laid solely with their leader alone.
A knock came to my door suddenly shifted my focus away from my actions and to the present. Turning in the bed a bit, I rested my back against the headrest before calling out.
F/N: "What do you want!"
I yelled, not getting up from my bed as a younger voice I didn't recognize spoke from the other side of the wall.
???: "To relay a message. You are to meet Esdeath at the front of the castle immediately."
Silence filled the room for a moment; I sat there, thinking. Enveloped in my thoughts as I rolled out of bed and grabbed my rapier's scabbard from the wall.
Guard: "Sir? Y-you don't want to-
F/N: "I'm coming!"
I called out as I finished buckling the blade to my hip. If my mind was wandering to the right place, then it could mean my survival. Taking in a big breath and making my way out the door, I left before the guard could even speak again. Traveling through the marble halls, I couldn't stop feeling a chill run down my spine. It was ever-present as I descended the large stairs and came to a stop.
Before me stood Esdeath, a look of neutrality upon her face. Behind her was a carriage, though what was pulling it confirmed some of my suspicions. For Esdeath had used her powers to create two horses made of ice, cold air drifted down off their forms, giving the whole thing an aura of mysticism.
F/N: "So, what do you want, general?
Crossing my arms, Esdeath opens up the carriage door, beckoning me in with a head tilt.
Esdeath: "Get in. We're going hunting."
F/N: "Sure, 'hunting.' Like you did with Tatsumi."
I said before getting in. I noticed the glare Esdeath gave me at the mention of the assassin. She kept any comment to herself as she got into the carriage and closed it behind us. Almost instantly, the ice mounts began pulling the carriage away from the castle and out of the city. The two of us sat across from one another. However, it was silent for most of the trip out of the capital. I watched out the window as we passed by the streets of homes and shops, many people staring as we passed, fear paltered on their faces for the few lingering moments we cross their paths. Something that I commented on.
F/N: "You know, as a great general of the empire, you spread quite the fear."
Esdeath: "Fear keeps them in line."
F/N: "And you don't see a problem in that? Soldiers are supposed to protect the people, make them feel at ease."
Esdeath: "Spoken like a revolutionary."
F/N: "And you'd be right."
said as we exited the cities walls, now moving on the farmland and meadows that kept the city fed. My gaze didn't lay upon them for long as I looked at Esdeath, a satisfied smirk on her face.
