Chapter 4: The New Captain America

(The next day)

Y/N's P.O.V

Wanda and I walk in the bedroom of our house that would become our baby's room.

She and I look around.

Y/N: Well, now we know what colour to paint this room.

She chuckles.

Wanda: We don't have to paint the room blue you know.

Y/N: Okay, good point. Tomorrow we'll go to the store and choose the colours for the room.

Wanda: Okay that's a.... woah.

I turn to see her holding her stomach.

Y/N: Babe, are you okay? Is it the baby?

Wanda: Y/N, the baby's kicking! He's kicking!

Y/N: Wait, seriously?!

Wanda nods.

I then go over to her and she puts my hand on her stomach.

Y/N: Oh wow, he really is kicking. Looks like we've got a little fighter on our hands.

She looks at me.

Wanda: Well then, he'll be just like his father and uncle.

I smile.

Y/N: Speaking of uncle's, did you tell Pietro yet?

She nods

Wanda: Yeah I did. He's excited it's a boy, and he also hopes that the baby will get his powers eventually.

I shake my head.

Y/N: God, I don't think I could deal with two speedy's running around. It'd drive all of us mad.

She laughs.

Wanda: No doubt. Okay, I'm gonna take a bath.

Y/N: Okay babe.

(Four hours later)

Wanda and I are now currently laying in bed and I'm laying down near her stomach trying to be close to our baby.

She and I are also talking baby names for the little boy that we'll soon have on our hands.

Weirdly enough we already have middle names for him, just not a first name.

Wanda: I'm sorry babe, but we're not naming our son Y/N Jr. One Y/N annoying me on a daily basis is enough.

I look down at her stomach to talk to our son.

Y/N: You hear that buddy? Momma's hating on me. But alright, we won't name him Y/N Jr. You win.

She chuckles.

Wanda: Sorry sweetie. But I do have a name I think you'll like.

I tilt my head in confusion.

Y/N: What is it?

Wanda: How about Jackson, after your best friend.

I smile.

Y/N: Really?

Wanda: Yeah, While being in your head I've seen the connection you had with him, and how much you two loved each other. We don't have to if you don't want to, but it was just an idea.

I smile and crawl up to her and kiss her.

Y/N: I'd love that baby, thank you.

I go back down and and talk to the baby.

Y/N: Well little one your name is Jackson James Pietro Romanoff-Barnes.

Wanda and I smile at each other, my phone the goes off. Wanda then hands me my phone and I see that it's a message from Torres.

Y/N: Sorry babe, business calls.

She nods understanding what I meant.

I leave the room and go into my office and sit down at my laptop, then I face time Torres.

Torres then sends me a picture of the leader of the Flagsmashers and video footage of the leader that Torres managed to get.

I stand my phone up against my laptop.

Y/N: So, this is the leader of the Flagsmashers?

Torres: Yep, he's a real friendly guy.

Y/N: I thought you were monitoring their online chatter?

Torres: I was, I did. But you know, sometimes you have to get your hands dirty. Or a broken orbital.

Y/N: You're lucky that's all he gave you. Damn, he's strong. 

Torres: Yeah he was, it went dark as soon as it was all over that's their M.O. We just gotta keep our ears to the ground until they pop up again.

Y/N: Anything else happen outside the video?

Torres: Nah man, my face was in the dirt before I knew what was happening. Why? What you thinking?

Y/N: Nothing.

Torres: Wait, you don't think he could be a...

Y/N: Look show this to Sam and I'll circle back to you. Let's just keep this between you, me and Sam.

Torres: Alright man. I'll check in with Sam, talk soon.

Y/N: Yep.

Torres hangs up.

Wanda: Y/N! You need to come and see this!

I get up and go back to the bedroom and see Wanda sitting on the end of the bed watching the news.

I sit down next to her and see the senator from the museum on the screen.

Senator: Unrest in the wake of recent events has left us vulnerable to attack. Everyday Americans feel it. While we love heroes who put their lives on the line to defend earth, we also need heros to defend this country. We need a real person who embodies America's greatest values, we need someone to inspire us again. Someone who can be a symbol for all of us. So on behalf of the department of defence and our command and chief, it is with great honour that we announce here today that the United States of America has a new hero. Join me in welcoming your new Captain America!

Everyone there starts clapping as a guy walks out with the shield and a new Captain America suit.

I feel the anger and sadness in me rise up as I couldn't believe they took that shield that was meant to only belong to Steve and gave it to this guy. Who for all I knew hadn't earned it.

Wanda puts her hand on my shoulder and does her best to comfort me.

I just couldn't believe it. There was a new Captain America.
