Chapter 12: Searching For Donya Madani

Y/N's P.O.V

After a few minutes of sitting around with Sam and Zemo I see dad walk into the room.

Bucky: The Dora Milaje is here, they want Zemo. But I bought us some more time.

Sam: Where you followed?

Bucky: No.

Zemo: How can you be so sure.

Bucky: 'Cause I know when I'm being followed.

Zemo: Well it was sweet of you to defend me.

Y/N: Shut up, no-one is defending you. You killed Nagel.

Zemo: Do we have to litigate what may or may not have happened?

Y/N: There's nothing to ilitgate, you straight up shot the guy in the face.

Bucky: Y/N, Sam.

Y/N: What?

Bucky: Karli bombed a GRC supply depot.

Sam: Seriously?

Y/N: What's the damage?

Bucky: Eleven injured and three dead. They have a list of demands, and they promise more attacks if their demands aren't met.

Zemo: She's getting worse. I have the will to complete this mission. Do the three of you?

Sam: She's just a kid.

Y/N: Sam's right. We can't just kill her.

Zemo: You two are trying to see something in her that is not there. You're clouded by it.

Zemo then goes on to say how the concept of super soldiers will always trouble people and warp aspirations. He also says that this is what led to the Nazis, Ultron and the Avengers.

Sam: Hey, those are our friends your talking about.

Bucky: The Avengers, not the Nazis.

Y/N: Look, Karli is radicalised, but there must be a peaceful way to stop her.

Zemo then says that as Karli has been corrupted by the super serum she will continue to escalate and kill people.

Bucky: Maybe you're wrong Zemo. The serum never corrupted Steve.

Zemo: Touché. But there has never been another Steve Rogers.

Dad then goes over to sit on the couch.

Bucky: Well maybe we should give him to the Wakandan's right now.

Zemo: And give up your tour guide?

Bucky: Yes.

Y/N: So, from what I'm gathering Donya is like a pillar of the community, right?

Sam: Yeah. So?

After a couple of seconds Sam's eyes widen as he gets what I'm trying to say.

Sam: Oh I get it. So, when I was a kid my TT passed away.

Bucky: Your TT?

Sam: Yeah man, my TT.

Y/N: Sam, what's a TT?

Sam: Oh right. When I was a kid my aunt passed away, and the entire neighbourhood got together for a ceremony.

Y/N: And they might be doing the same for Donya Madani.

Sam: Which means we can talk to some people and find out where the ceremony is.

Y/N: Exactly.

Bucky: Well, it's worth a shot.

Zemo looks to Sam and I.

Zemo: Well your TT would be very proud of you. Turkish Delight.

He throws one to Sam then me.

Y/N: Okay then. Let's go and take a look around.

Dad, Sam, Zemo and I leave to find out where the ceremony is.

(Two hours later)

We've now just come back to Zemo's place after visiting one of the displacement camps. No-one told us anything.

Sam, dad and I sit on the couch.

Bucky: Well no-one's talkin' about Donya.

Sam: That's because Karli is the only one fighting for them.

Y/N: Sam's right. They don't trust us because we're outsiders to them. And when it comes to Karli she's not exactly wrong.

Sam: Damn right she is.

Dad tilts his head.

Bucky: What do you two mean?

Y/N: For three years people have been welcomed into countries that used to keep them out with barbwire. Come on dad, you know this. There were houses and jobs. Folks were happy to have people around to help rebuild. It wasn't just one community coming together, it was all of 'em. Then boom. Just like that it goes back to the way it was before.

Sam: Y/N's right. To them at least Karli is doin' somethin'.

Bucky: You guys really think her ends justify her means? That she's no different than him or anyone else we've fought.

Y/N: Well one of the people I fought was a brainwashed version of you. Twice.

Bucky: Whatever.

Sam: Look, she's different. She's not motivated by the same things.

Y/N: Well I'm thinking if we find Karli maybe we can talk her out of all this. Get her to stop before it's too late.

Zemo then comes over to us with tea.

Bucky: That little girl. What'd she tell you?

Zemo: She said that the funeral is this afternoon.

Bucky: The Dora is coming for you any minute. Hell, they're probably hanging around outside right now. Keep talking.

Zemo then decides to keep the rest of the information as leverage against us.

Dad then stands up and gets in Zemo face, after throwing his glass at the wall.

Bucky: You wanna see what someone can do with leverage?

Sam and I stand up and get inbetween them.

Y/N: Don't engage. He'll try to extort you and do that stupid head tilt thing. Let me make a call.

I then go off and call up Sharon to see if she can help out by keeping an eye on the camp.

Sharon tells me that the Power Broker is pissed about what happened to Nagel and thay Madripoor is worse than it already was.

I go back to the other room to join Sam, dad and Zemo to come up with a plan to stop Karli, without killing her.
