ADELAIDE

"Ready or not, here I come." A little brunet giggles softly as she looks around the room, trying to find her mother.

The curtains flutters softly and she whips around, finding nothing.

"Where are you.." she sings softly, tiptoeing around the room. She looks behind the cupboard. She looks beneath the sofa and also beneath the small worktable, but she was not there.

"Are you upstairs?" the girl runs her hand over the staircase handle. Her long brown hair is tied into two, neat pigtails and she is wearing an ocean green baby frock.

"Come and catch me!" a velvety voice rings through the empty house. The girl gasps in happiness and runs up the stairs, following the voice.

She tiptoes through the hallway, trying to find her mother.

Suddenly a muffled voice comes from her right. She follows the voice, thinking it to be her mother's and finds herself in front of her father's study- a room that she is forbidden to enter at any situation.

The door is slightly opened. She peeps in and finds her father sitting on his chair, talking to someone on his phone, his time urgent.

"And I don't care. I know that I need it. Right now." Someone speaks to him on the other side.

"I am affected. I can see the signs- yes, yes I've isolated myself but I need the Bliss." He falls silent. "What is the price?" The person on the other side speaks and his face falls. "But-but I-I don't have that much money. Is- there no other way?" Her father's eyes widens. "She's just five. What-what are you talking about." And the brunet, eavesdropping, knew that they were talking about her.

"No!" her father bellows. "She's my daughter! I won't give her to you. And why do you even need her for? She is not even immune!" The girl's eyes widens and she takes a step back. But her father had told her that she was an immune.

The floorboards creak under her weight and her father's attention snaps up to her. He storms up to the girl in the hallway and looks down with utter fury. He mumbles on the phone, telling the person that he will call them back later and drops the phone in his pocket.

He glowers at the girl, who looks up at him fearfully.

"Florencia." He coos maniacally. "What did daddy tell you about eavesdropper?" The girl takes a step back. "I'm sorry daddy." Never in her life that she was so terrified of her father.

"Tell me what you've been asked!" he snaps at her.

A rushed footsteps sound in the hallway as the girl's mother comes to the both of them. "What happened?" she asks, but receives no answer from any of them.
