ADELAIDE

"Can I sit?" I ask the blond boy who is sitting at the edge of the hill, his legs dangling down. I hand him the mug of tea. He takes the mug from me and pats the space beside him. I sit down beside him, dangling my legs down.

He takes a sip of the drink, closing his eyes and tilting his head back, thoroughly enjoying it.

"You have no idea how much I missed it." He licks his lips.

"Do every single British love tea as much as you do?"

"Maybe, but if you would have tasted it, you would have known." He offers me the mug

"No thanks," I delicately push the mug away, "I'm a cocoa lover."

He rolls his eyes and sips the drink, mumbling about how delusional I am. I chuckle, lightly shoving him away.

"So..." I shift around, trying to find something to talk about. "any girl caught your eye?"

A lazy laugh comes out of Newt's lips. "Yeah. Drop dead gorgeous."

"Yeah," I play along. "You made her your girlfriend yet?" He nods.

"Where is she?"

"I'm looking right at her." Though I knew that this is what he is going to say, yet my heart jolts unexpectedly, and my stomach flutters.

I place my hand on his thigh and lay my head on his shoulder.

"We have to figure it out how I can get to know when I'm having these episodes." I say, rubbing his thigh softly- just like the way he loves.

"Do you get any indication? Any signal? Like physical pain or somethin'?"

I shake my head. "Not at all. Extremely sudden. Sometimes even I don't know that I am hallucinating until I am out of it. That what it's scares me the most, I have no idea when I will have an episode and whether if I hurt you or not."

By my actions or physically or verbally.

"You won't. You will never hurt me and I will be careful around you too."

"Last time, I jumped off a moving car." I mumble.

"We are travelling by foot."

I sigh, disgusted with the idea of traveling through the treacherous scorch again.

"I just want all of this to be over." I burrow my head in the warmth of his chest. "I'm tired of this desert and sand and cranks."

"Just a little bit more, love." He smiles softly, "You are like the pillar of the group, yeah? You have to be at your pinnacle, so that we can all get through this."
