ADELAIDE

By now, probably everyone knows how I expertise in avoiding topics that I don't want to talk about. Even when Aislinn showered me with stolen pitiful glances (and all the time, I had controlled the urge to just shove her head in the forward direction and not at me), I didn't tell her what I just saw.

I know it's one of my episodes again hitting me- a price for surviving more than I am supposed to.

Of course, it isn't real. It can't be. My mother was never in the WICKED compound and my father had died when I was about six.

But that never lessens the terror that still rages in me or the self-hatred growing me, taunting me that I actually am the reason for my parents' death or them being social outcasts- whatever that meant.

After having a small break, the air between us being filled with uncomfortable silence, we again set out for our journey. I had tried hitting the car radio for a song but all I got is weird static noise.

I huff and sit back, propping my legs up on the dashboard.

"Hey!" Aislinn pushes my legs away. "Feet off the dash."

"Its not your car."

"Still. It's impolite to do it."

I roll my eyes. "As much as I love not walking, I'm bored."

"Oh!" Aislinn puts her hand on her heart, feigning a shock. "Oh no! Your Highness is bored! Quick! Alert the media, it's the state of emergency for the whole world. We are doomed!" I roll my eyes again. Maybe for the hundredth time, since we've started on our journey.

"You used to enjoy my sarcasm earlier." She tuts.

"That explains why I have such a miraculous ability to tolerate Minho." I mumble.

I again prop my feet up on the dashboard and close my eyes. "Tell me about you."

Maybe that will make her forget about me. And I can actually learn something more about her.

"Me?" she seems to be taken aback.

"Yeah."

After a moment of silence she looks at me. "You wanna know what happened that I, prime hater of WICKED, worked for them, yeah ?"

Yeah. "You are smart enough to figure it out."

"I don't know how much you remember. I was only your trainer till you passed your final physicality test and was appointed as The Cube. As much as I hated getting separated from you, I had no other option but to listen to them. You know, the Maze Trials wasn't the part of the plan for the Cure, and at the initial years, WICKED was just a lab with volunteers who were believed to be the key of the Cure.
