So sorry for the delay...a lot was going on...but here's another little Diane and sally thing...
It was midnight. Sally tiptoed into Diane's room. She noticed her sleeping and gently shut the door. Diane heard the click of the door and opened her eyes. Her bright blue eyes stood out in the dark, catching Sally's green like orbs.
"What are you doing?" Diane whispered, not moving a muscle.
"I had a nightmare." Sally informed, twiddling with her bears arms as she talked.
"Lucky."
"No."
"Sorry."
They were both quiet. You could hear the sound of the millions of raindrops falling at the moment. Diane looked out the corner of her eye, hesitating to actually look at her window. She blinked before drawing her eyes back to Sally, who was now waiting in fear and anticipation.
"Sally, whats--" BOOM. A loud crack of thunder caused Sally to squeak and rush over to Diane. She climbed onto the bed and hugged Diane's side at a weird angle. Burying her face into the blankets.
"I don't like the thunder." Sally whispered, it almost coming out like a whimper.
"Its ok, kiddo." Diane comforted quietly, moving Sally to a better position to lay on the bed.
"Can I sleep here?" Sally whispered.
"Did you really have to ask?"
"Yes."
"No."
"Oh.."
They were both quiet. Diane closed her eyes, thinking Sally was done.
"Hey, Diane?" Sally whispered. Diane sighed.
"Yeah?" She whispered back.
"Are we friends?"
"Hell yeah we are."
"Best friends?"
"Like sisters."
"Oh...why are we whispering?"
"You started it."
"Did not."
"Did too."
"Oh.."
They were quiet again. The sound of the rain filled the room and lulled Diane to sleep. She was right on the verge of falling asleep when she stiffened in surprise. She looked over and noticed Sally, who decided to lean on her as she slept. Diane smiled.
"Best friends..." She whispered, and closed her eyes...
