CHAPTER 25

CHAPTER 25:  Surprise Surprise

Mabigat ang maletang dala ni Zed.  Nagpasiguro na siya.  He will stay as much as it takes to convince Lyn.  It took him some weeks and he is back.  Once again, he is here in the same reception lobby that he left several days ago.  Buo na ang loob.  Back to the old Zed.

He was signing the log when he heard something break.  He turned around and saw the most georgous island girl he had seen.  Her long flowing white sundress had printed purple flowers by the hem.  Her  wavy brown hair framed her face and she had flowers in her hair.  Her face was fresh and glowing like the morning sun.  Notwithstanding the baby bump, her beauty always takes her breath away.

Nahulog ni Lyn ang hawak-hawak niyang baso ng four seasons juice na ibibigay sana sa bagong dating.  Nakatulala lang ito sa walk-in na bisita na nakaboard shorts, white sando at floral orange na polo shirt.  Ngumiti si Zed, breaking the thickening tension between them.  Nilapitan niya ang babae, niyakap ito at hinalikan.

“Hi Babe, nice to see you too.” Binulongan ito ni Zed sa tenga.  Natauhan si Lyn at sinampal ang lalaki.  Napatingin ang ibang taong nasa paligid.  Hinila ni Lyn si Zed sa isang tabi malayo sa mga tao sa reception area.

“What are you doing here?” saad agad ni Lyn.

“Sinusundo na kita.  Uuwi na tayo.” Sagot ni Zed, oblivious to the pain on his cheek.  He was willing to let it go.  Nabigla lang siguro si Lyn.

“Ang kapal naman ng mukha mo.  At talagang nahanap mo pa rin ako.” May galit sa tono ni Lyn.

“Hahanapin talaga kita.  Do you think you can get rid of me that easily?  Nagkakamali ka.”  May diin din sa tono ni Zed.

“Umalis ka na.” sagot ni Lyn.

“Bakit?  Dahil may lalaki ka na?  Tang ina Lyn, lalo kitang hindi lulubayan.  Akin ka.”  He took her arm forcibly.

“Lyn?” may lumapit sa dalawa. 

“Frank.” Nagulat si Lyn. Binitiwan ni Zed si Lyn ngunit nilagay nito ang braso sa bewang ni Lyn in a gesture of possessiveness.  “Ah Frank, si Zed, Arch. Sedfrey Montevista.” 

“Frank, Frank Osmena pare.”  Frank offered his hand for a handshake.  Zed didn’t take it.  “We’ve met pare, at the launch party of Montevista Holdings.  Contractor ninyo ako sa mga Cebu properties ninyo.  Si Pen ang kaibigan ko.”  Nakakunot  noong tinitigan ni Zed ang lalaki, sizing him up.  “Ah Lyn, I’d like you to see sana the Gazebo, tatapusin na kasi today, baka may gusto kang adjustments.”

“Yes Frank, punta na lang ako.”  Naramdaman ni Frank na parang pinapa-alis siya ni Lyn sa tono nito.

“Okay, I’ll just be at the gazebo.” Frank nodded before he left the two.

“Is there a place where we can talk?” tanong ni Zed na ngayon ay inalis na ang braso sa bewang ni Lyn.  Huminga si Lyn in exasperation.  She wanted Zed to leave.  Siguro nga dapat nilang pag-usapan yun para tapos na.  Lyn led Zed to her villa.  She thought it was a safe place away from the prying eyes of the guests.   Nagkamali siya.

Naramdaman agad ni Lyn ang threat sa personal space niya nang ilock ni Zed ang main door ng villa pagkapasok nila.

“Why did you lock the door?”  tanong ni Lyn na ngayon ay kinakabahan na.

“I don’t want anyone walking in on us.”  Nakatayo lang sila pareho.  “Sit.” He ordered her to sit on the sofa like the villa was his.  Lyn refused.

“Ano ako aso?” Lyn continued to stand, her arms crossed in front of her.  She rolled her eyes at him.

“Shit!  You’re so cute…”  He said with a breath and in a second, he was already in front of her plundering her lips, urging it to let him in.  Nabigla si Lyn.  Nadilat ang mata.  She continued to purse her lips refusing to let him in.  She tried pushing him away but at that second, he took her chin in his hand and forced her mouth open letting him in.
