Chapter Twenty-Two

The kids from the future feel elated over the weeks that follow. The DA met regularly and they have been a part of the secret group their parents have formed. Something they've been wishing since they have heard about it. At their fourth meeting, they were handed the fake galleon their Aunt Hermione fashioned to help Harry in announcing their next meeting.

"You see the numerals around the edge of the coins?" Hermione said, holding one up for examination at the end of their fourth meeting. The coin gleamed fat and yellow in the light from the torches. "On real Galleons, that's just a serial number referring to the goblin who cast the coin. On these fake coins, though, the numbers will change to reflect the time and date of the next meeting. The coins will grow hot when the date changes, so if you're carrying them in a pocket you'll be able to feel them. We take one each, and when Harry sets the date of the next meeting he'll change the numbers on his coin, and because I've put a Protean Charm on them, they'll all change to mimic his." 

"Brilliant idea Hermione" Harry said as the group practice the Impedement curse.

"It was Molly who gave me the idea." Hermione said. "She said we need to come up with a way to inform the members about the meeting without actually having to talk to them. And she's right. It will look suspicious if students from different houses would suddenly become fast friends, especially students from different year levels. "

"And I thought you were for inter-house unity" Ron snorted.

"I am" Hermione insisted "But as inter-house unity is a rare occurrence, we need to draw as little attention as possible or we'll be facing detention with that foul woman"

"Oh right" Ron said.

Meanwhile, Teddy continued his work for the Ministry and the Order. As he was new, the Auror head decided to have him partnered with Kingsley Shacklebolt in finding the whereabouts of Sirius Black.

"Romolus" Kingsley said. Teddy opted for the name Ted Romulus, using his father's name for Potterwatch during Voldemort's regime. "Where is the report I asked yesterday?" then he added with a whisper "I met Remus in London, he said he'll be in the headquarters tonight"

"I have the report on his sighting in Kings Cross, but I don't think he's in England right now. A muggle in Egypt has seen him last week and it has been reported to their Ministry of Magic. I think he's lying low in Africa for now. We haven't received any other information yet" Teddy said then he added in a low voice. "Mum said there'll be a meeting tonight, Thank you for the news Minister."

Kingsley smiled but said in a loud voice. "I want the report at the end of the day Romulus" and with a wink, he strolled out of the Auror office.

"That Kingsley is a slave driver" said Anthony Wright, a burly young Auror whom befriended Teddy on his first day on the job.

"Yeah" Teddy said. "He has to be. He's been assigned to catch a mass murderer after all"

"Listen mate, not to dishearten you or anything" Anthony said. "No bloke will catch Black, I'm telling you. He has escaped Azkaban ain't he? You've got to be a skilled dark wizard to evade the dementors."

"Err" Teddy said not knowing what to say. Sirius, he thought, would like the guy.

"Listen, me and Simon will be going in the Leaky Cauldron to grab a drink tonight, want to come?" Anthony said after a while.

"I can't" Teddy said. "I have something to do tonight" Teddy said.

"Does that involve the beauty you were talking with last week?" Anthony asked teasingly pertaining to Victoire. She has visited Teddy at the Ministry last week and Anthony has seen them.

"Err yeah" Teddy said. "I uh have to talk to Arthur Weasley about the flying motorcycle. Black has been reported to use it". He strolled out of the office and into the nearby lift to visit Arthur Weasley. He remembered being shocked to see the eldest Weasley's office. It was small and windowless. A glorified closet, as his mother has termed it. A far cry from his office in our time, Teddy mused.

As he turns to a corner, he saw the Fudge talking to Lucius Malfoy. Malfoy has seen his presence and incline his toward him.

"Oh this is, Ted" Fudge said introducing Teddy. "Ted—what is your family name again?" he asked Teddy unable to remember his fake surname.

"It's Romulus, Prime Minister" Teddy answered politely but continued looking at Lucius.

"Right" Fudge said and turns to Lucius. "He was a new addition to our Aurors. He's working on Black's case" he then turned to Teddy "This is Mr. Lucius Malfoy, a great supporter of the Ministry."

"I see" Teddy said. "Pleased to meet you Mr. Malfoy"

"Have you had luck in locating Black?" Lucius asked.

"None so far though we have received information about his sighting in Egypt" Teddy said.

"I think all of you have been misled." Lucius said. "I for one, don't think that Black is anywhere but England. He, I believe is being kept by wizards who are working against the Ministry. Have you tried Remus Lupin? He and Black used to be best pal while at school and I think he'll have access to his whereabouts. You will find it unsurprising if he was plotting against wizards, him being a werewolf. I don't think he can be trusted."

Before Teddy could retort, he heard a voice from behind him.

"There you are Teddy" Nymphadora Tonks said walking towards him.

"Good day to you Minister" she said cheerily. "Mr. Malfoy" she added tartly.

"Nymphadora" Lucius nodded.

"Ah Ms. Tonks, what brought you here?" Fudge asked.

"I was just looking for Romulus here, I have something to ask and Wright said he was on his way to Weasley's office" Tonks said.

"I am on my way" Teddy said. "Good day to you Minister, Mr. Malfoy" and with a curt nod continued his way towards the lift.

"What's the matter Teddy?" Tonks asked once they are inside the lift.

"Malfoy" Teddy said still seething. "He said something about Dad. Him being a werewolf"

"Don't let it get to you" Tonks said.

"I can't believe we were related to him" Teddy said.

"Only by marriage" Tonks corrected. "Though his wife, Aunt Narcissa is no better. And I shudder to think about Bellatrix. Mum said she was mad"

Teddy chuckled bitterly thinking it was Bellatrix who will rob him of his mother in the future.

"Don't let it get to you" Tonks repeated.

Teddy willed himself to relax. "You're right Mum" he said. "Why were you looking for me?" he asked.

"Oh I was just thinking maybe you wanted to have a drink with me before the meeting tonight" Tonks said. "You can bring Victoire along."

"She'll be in St. Mungo's" Teddy said.

"Are you going out with her? In your time?" Tonks asked.

"Err... sort of" Teddy said.

"I like her, if my opinion makes any difference" Tonks said. "I'd like to see Bill's reaction though, once he knows about it"

"He just chuckled and said he knew it was bound to happen" Teddy said recalling the moment when Victoire told him about their relationship.

"Oh? Why don't we tell him tonight and see how his younger version would react?" Tonks said chuckling.

"I'm sure I'll see the end of his wand" Teddy said blanching.

Tonks just laughed.
