Chapter Twenty-Three

The first match of the Quidditch season will start with Gryffindor playing against Slytherin. As it was their first game in a long time—Quidditch being cancelled because of the Triwizard Tournament last year—everyone was excited for the coming match.

The excitement of the future Weasleys are perhaps doubled by the fact that they are going to see their future parents play.

"I just wish Dad would manage his nerves before the game though" Hugo said miserably after seeing Ron played during practice. Ron had not yet performed the Wood standard though there was a moment where he have clung to his broom with one hand and kicked the Quaffle so hard away from the hoop he's guarding making it soar the length of the pitch and through the middle hoop at the other end.

"Don't worry Hugo, he'll be alright once the game starts" Rose assured him.

As the match draw near, however, various incidents have been reported with Slytherin attacking the Gryffindor players. One time, Alicia Spinnet was sent to the hospital wing as her brows grow thick obscuring her vision. Professor Snape has refused to listen to the fourteen witnesses who have seen Alicia being jinxed by the Slyhterin Keeper, Miles Bletchley and insisted that Spinnet must have attempted a Hair-Thickening Charm on herself.

The next day however, Bletchley left the Great Hall covering her nose as it is bleeding profusely. Dominique, James, Fred II and the Weasley Twin claimed the blame admitting to have spiked Bletchley's pumpkin juice with the makings of Nosebleed Nougat.

As the incidents of sabotage on the Gryffindor players increase, so as the taunting they are receiving.

"Hey, Potty, I heard Warrington's sworn to knock you off your broom on Saturday" Pansy Parkinson said pertaining to one of the Slytherin chasers.

Harry, who have endured Slytherin's taunting for over four years, only chuckled. " Warrington's aim's so pathetic I'd be more worried if he was aiming for the person next to me," he retorted, which made Ron and Hermione laugh and wiped the smirk off Pansy Parkinsons face.

But Ron never endured the jeers and campaigns of insult before so whenever the Slytherin throw the insults at him, he turns green or his ears turn red.

"Got your bed booked in the hospital wing, Weasley" Draco Malfoy said and imitated Ron dropping the Quaffle to the delight of the Slytherins.

"We've readied a box of tissue Malfoy so you won't need to find one after Gryffindor beat you in the match. You can blubber in front of the crowd" Roxanne said delighting the Gryffindors nearby.

"We'll fashion a magnifier for you Malfoy, that way you can spot and catch the snitch before someone else does" Fred II said.

"How many times have you caught the snitch Malfoy?" James asked then slaps a hand to his forehead as if remembering something. "Oh right, you've never caught one" The Gryffindors howled with laughter. Draco on the other hand turned green and after shoving a third year Hufflepuff who happens to be on the way, he strode away angrily, the other Syltherins on his wake.

October gave way to November and finally the Quidditch season started. Students piled up excitedly towards the pitch, eagerly waiting for the match. Luna has turn heads during breakfast as she sports a life-size lion's head for a headdress.

"I'm supporting Gryffindor today" she said, oblivious to the jeering and gawking of the students around her. "Good luck on your match today, Harry and Ron."

"Err, thanks" Harry said uncomfortably. Ron only grunted and continued staring on his plate.

"When you're ready, follow me on the pitch" Angelina said to the both of them and she left the Great Hall with Alicia Spinnet and Katie Bell on her wake.
