OH NO JAMES, YOU DIDN'T (Harry Potter Next Generation Time Travel Fan Fiction)

Chapter Eight

It was sometime around midnight when Lily silently crept down the stairs to the kitchens. She had spent four hours tossing and turning trying to sleep but to no avail. She just can't sleep if she doesn't drink milk before going to bed.

She rummage the kitchen looking for milk.

"What are you doing down here?" came Sirius' voice from behind her.

Lily gave a startled yelp before turning around. "Merlin, you gave me a fright" Lily said.

"What are you doing down here?" Sirius asked again.

"Can't sleep" Lily said trying hard to avoid looking at Sirius.

"And you decided to rummage my kitchen?" Sirius said.

"I'm looking for some milk, okay?" Lily said resigned. "I can't sleep if I don't drink milk before going to bed"

"Oh, okay" Sirius said looking bemused.

"You can laugh" Lily said irritated.

"I'm not laughing" Sirius countered.

"Just don't tell them" Lily said indicating her cousins "especially my brothers, they'll tease me endless"

"Count on it kid" Sirius said sitting down.

"So, where's the milk?" Lily asked.

Sirius pointed at the cupboard.

"Too high" Lily said and point her wand at the cupboard "Accio milk" Then a jug of milk soared from the cupboard.

"Aren't you forbidden to use magic outside of school? you're underage?" Sirius asked.

"In our time yes, but here, we can"Lily answered while she made a glass fly towards her "See we haven't been born yet so the ministry do not know of our existence, hence they hold no records of us. The only registered wizard in this house is you, so basically we can do magic outside Hogwarts at this time"

Sirius nodded.

"So how 'bout you? Can't sleep too?" Lily asked after sipping her milk.

"Yeah" Sirius said "Too much going on"

"I know what you mean" Lily said.

"You do?" Sirius asked, eyebrows raised.

"I know what's happening in this time" Lily said. "Dad told us"

"Harry?" Sirius asked.

"Yep, he doesn't want to keep secrets from us" Lily continued then added irritably "except perhaps the fact that he fancied other woman before mum"

Sirius let a bark-like laugh "Harry fancies a  girl?"

"Yes, some tramp named Cho Chang" Lily said angrily

"Chang?" Sirius said "Hmm, I remember her, a seeker from Ravenclaw" he continued "Harry went against her during his third year quidditch match, I watch that game, that girl is good" He explained upon seeing Lily's face.

"Hmmp, I bet mum was far better" Lily said stubbornly.

Sirius just chuckled.

"Well, she is, she's one of the greatest player for Holyhead Harpies and England" Lily said indignantly.

"Easy, tiger" Sirius said chuckling.

Lily glared at him.

"So, you said Harry told you everything" Sirius said after a while.

"Yes"

"What will happen?" Sirius asked

"I can't tell you"

"Why?"

"Because it might ruin the world that we know." Lily said solemnly and look at Sirius "Its far better than this time."

"Does that mean that we won?" Sirius asked.

"Won? of course you won" Lily said. "We wouldn't be born otherwise"

"Yeah" Sirius said softly.

"Did I make it?" Sirius asked after a moment of silence "Did I live?"

"I can't tell you" Lily said softly.

"Why?" Sirius asked then he saw the sad look on Lily's face "I didn't make it did I?"

"No" Lily said softly

"How?" Sirius croaked.

"Sometime next year before term ends, There's to be a fight between the order and the Death eaters at the ministry for the prophecy. Dad and his friends were there too. You were hit by the killing curse fired by Bellatrix and you fell to the veil" Lily said.

They remained silent for a while.

"I'm sorry" Lily said.

"Don't be, it's not your fault" Sirius said.

"You died saving Dad" Lily said.

"At least I did my duty as his godfather before I died." Sirius said smiling slightly.

"He misses you, you know" Lily said "Even until now. You were like a father and a friend to him"

"Is he happy now?" Sirius asked.

"Yes" Lily said.

"Then I didn't die in vain" Sirius said. "What will happen to Moony and Peter?" He asked

"Peter died in Dad's seventh year" Lily answered.

"At least that rat met his end" Sirius spat.

"He died because he showed weakness. Because he had second thoughts when he was supposed to hurt my Dad" Lily said "The hand which Voldemort gave him when he rise killed him"

Sirius went silent upon hearing this.

"Moony?" he croaked.

"This is the first time, Teddy met his parents" Lily said, her head bowed.

"Moony and Tonks?" Sirius said his face pale.

"I'm sorry" Lily said. "There's going to be a war at Hogwarts two years from now. It will be the last war against Voldemort. Many will die, Remus and Tonks is among them"

"At least Voldemort goes with them" Sirius said and then asked "who else?"

"I can't tell you anymore" Lily said tearfully.

"Okay kid, I won't pry anymore" Sirius said.

"Please don't tell them" Lily said indicating the people in Sirius' time.

"I won't" Sirius said.

"Thank you" Lily said and stand up "I think I'll go to bed"

"Okay"

"Good night Sirius" Lily said heading for the door.

Sirius didn't reply. He remained looking at nothingness pondering the news that he won't make it out of the war.
