Chapter 26: Calls and texts

I was expected to take up my new position in June. But I knew that there was no way my company would let me go early. That is without serving the three months notice  period  that was stated in my contract and to which I was bound by my signature. Something which my Regional Human Resources Manager never left to point at in each of our correspondence, be it an e-mail or a phone call. Arrgh... that nagging bitch.

In case if you had forgotten her, let me give you a quick reminder. She is the lady who pissed me off during my very first visit to the Regional Office in Cal city. That woman was determined to not let me go without completing my notice period. But I kind of expected it. The company was very well know amongst its peers for having stringent regulatory policies across all divisions of work involved. The HR department was no less. And, also because everyone in my branch had warned me too.

Kaden was but a week away from completing his notice period. Mr. Germaine was also eager to not let me go. He kept calling me over to his cabin on a daily basis to discuss "operations and transactions". Yet, every meeting would end in him trying to convince me to change my mind and stay. He even went to the extent of promising to speak to Victor regarding a good raise.

"Right, like that is even remotely possible!" I thought to myself.

I knew Victor, he would never oblige the request. Though we were on quite good terms, he would never do it. But it seems like this poor guy did try to convince Victor in this matter. And as expected, Victor could not help. I was happy at this outcome though. For if Victor had taken it up and tried to meddle in these, it would've made leaving a hell lot harder for me. I had hardly seven weeks left and I knew I needed to convince Victor to help me out.

At this point, only he could help me out.

As I started the next day, I opened up the portal to tender my resignation. The minute after I hit submit, I knew Victor would be getting a mail. I decided to call him and inform him. He should hear it from me before he sees the mail.

Four unanswered calls later, I still couldn't get through to Victor. The guy wouldn't even reply to my text messgaes nor mails. I grew restless. He was as busy as a bee. Come evening and I was packing up for the day. There was supposed to be a meeting for everyone except me at the branch with some executives from one of our partner companies.

Unfortunately before I could finish my work, the meeting had started. Dang it. Now I had to wait for Mr. Germaine's signature in few vital reports of the day. It was already 30 minutes wasted. I was thinking about the grocery shopping I had to do. Not to mention few household chores I had pending. And of course to complete the few epsiodes left in the current season of 2 Broke Girls. I badly wanted to verbally abuse Mr. Germaine like how Max does to Han. Alas, I wasn't so lucky.

That moment when you realize that your work hours are up, yet still can't leave the office. That's living hell. Just look how bored Angelica is....

The meeting took place in the conference room in the first floor. And I was seated all along in an empty branch at the ground floor. Hoping that at least the fifth time would be the charm, I tried Victor's cell. Nothing! I gave up. And a few minutes later I saw someone walk outside my cabin. Hoping that it would be Mr. Germaine and that I could get him to sign that bloody report, I stormed outside. Only to freeze.

Waiting for someone to respond to the calls and texts be like....
Still no response? *deep sigh*
